Nose: light red fruity sour barley malt, pie crust. (lvl-5)-pungency
Attack: slightly thicker viscosity, barely tingly
Mid-palate: soft tart, mellow dull cherry flavour, (lvl-4-sweetness), soft short sour, sustained tangy, brown sugar barley malt, controlled acidity, thinnish body
Finish: almost salty, residual red fruity barley malt
Summary: The cherry fruit flavour is underwhelming and the Belgian ale profile is short and unremarkable - put them together? No surprise, nothing special. It’s drinkable at least for 8.2%.
650ml bottle. Pours pinkish-amber with a dusting of head. Aroma is mild cherry and Belgian yeast with earthy notes and green punchy hops. Lightly sweet taste - pushes the cherry further to the background, yet hides the high alcohol content well. Light, a little fizzy and watery. Interesting, but lacks complexity. 650ml bottle pours a pale amber color with a finger of white head that retains well and leaves only small amounts of lacing. Aroma is mild cherries with some yeasty notes and hints of caramel and roasty grains. Taste is mild cherry and pale malt sweetness with some mild hop bitterness and hints of yeast. Light to medium bodied with adequate carbonation for a decent feel on the palate. Pours a clear amber with thin tan head that reduces to a ring. Aroma is Belgian yeast, very faint cherry, some malt. Taste is a little underwhelming. The previously mentioned notes are there along with a cereal, bready taste to the malt. Cherries present more in the finish. It seems a tad thin considering the ABV. Would have liked a little more complexity in this. Not bad.

Interesting beer. Really not much cherry, earthy bitter hop notes, a touch of fruit, toasted malts, perhaps some brown sugar. Bizarre. Mis bottled? Pours brownish with a thin non lasting head. Sampled from 1 yr old bottle at brewpub Dec 2007. Pours deep red color but little to no head. Not as aromatic as expected, but still pleasantly fruity with marachino-like qualities. Quite nice flavor-wise: not too sweet. Clean with a lot of natural cherry flavors. Cheery pit flavors noticable too, giving it some complexity and taking the beer to a drier and slightly bitter level. Soft and creamy mouthfeel. Light red-tinged brown. Rich cherry nose with brown sugary malts. I never had it fresh, but after a year in the bottle this is very well-balanced. It’s the least fruit-forward of the three, with a great dark malt character (yes, it’s based on a tripel but a year in the bottle brings out an almost muscovado-like caramelized note). Overtop of this sits the candyish, fruity cherry. Mmm.
