Bottle at Spisekroken. Pours dark brown, with no head at all. Aroma is heavy spicy, overwhelming, lots of cloves and anisette. Taste is spicy , too much actually, with some light roasted malts lurking underneath, not enough to save this spice bomb.

03.11.2012, bottle @ Klosteret Beermakers Dinner:
God.

Bottle at premiere tasting for Spisekroken Mikrobryggeri @ Klosteret Mat & Vinhus, Bergen. Pours a deep near-black, ruby-hued body with a large creamy off-white head. Nose is star anise, strong clove tones, caramel, hints of licorice and cinnamon. Spicy and sweet with some mild citrus undercurrents. Taste is dominant clove notes with star anise, cinnamon and deep herbal-malty caramel underneath. Medium carbonation, dry herbal finish and medium to full body. All in all this is a tad bit spicy - especially on the clove side of things - but OK as a Christmas ale in moderate doses.
