50 cl bottle @ Timo A. BBE 02.03.2015.MoritzF (10067) - Ottobrunn, GERMANY - SEP 23, 2007
Pours dark copper color with a small head. Bready aroma, some malts, mild fruity notes, hay and some nuts, distant berries too on the background. Malty flavor, slightly watery, dark fruit notes, some hay and distant sweet chocolate. Slick palate, soft carbonation. Nice but a bit watery.
(draught at the Spitalgarten) Clear, dark brown colour with a reddish shine and a short beige foamy head. Sweet toast-malty nose with a distinctive berry fruity touch and light notes of caramel. Sweet flavour, light to medium bodied with a smooth carbonation. Tasty, slightly fruity taste with a touch of caramel; moderately dry, toasty and slightly bitter finish. Draught Very huge dense light-beige head over deep brown beer with a reddish sheen; lacerings. Huge head hampers nasal perception. Chestnut, chocolate, and other dark malts. Sweetish, nutty & bready, again chocolate, even some mocha. Medium bodied at best, but quite slick; again better carbonated in feel than visual. Quite nice Dunkles! My Bottom Line:Quack-Duck (9490) - Down South, GERMANY - FEB 14, 2009
Lengthy malt flavors share hazelnuts, toast and grilled marshmallows, as cherry-like Munich malt angles take you into even more enjoyment.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam decorates the clear mahogany, producing some lacing.
-The mouthfeel is silky and refined.
-The finish is surprisingly dryish considering the nature of the flavors evoked.
-Drinkability is very high.
-Like Helles, this is one that needs to be drunk fresh at the pub.
On tap at Spitalgarten.
bottle from Bierzwerg. Clear deep dark brown colour, mid-sized beige head. Aroma of chocolate and roasetd malts. Medium-bodied, malty with roasetd malt, hints of chocolate and walnut. A nice one.

On tap at the brewery, 16/07/2011. Dark brown with a slight, off-white head. Big, toffee and berry fruit aroma. Flavour was also sweet, with more fruit and caramel, a hint of roastiness and dryish finish. Enjoyable. jonas (7994) - Garching b. München, GERMANY - APR 11, 2005

A very dunkel dunkles with a foamy off-white creamy head.
roasted and doughy aroma, topped off with aromatic hops.
Doughy and chocolaty flavors, delicate, slighly metallic hop finish, a bit bandaid.
wellmalted body, slightly fizzly mouthfeel.
Vom Fass at the Spitalgarten 28 Jun 07. Deep, deep brown. Almost black. A small creamy head. Weak aroma. Soft mouthfeel. Sweet, uninspired impression. Idiosynkrasie (7858) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - MAY 13, 2014
500ml bottle. Clear, ruby red glowing, chestnut colour with average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Minimally grainy, dark malty aroma, a touch of malt lozenge. Taste is moderately dry dark malty, subtle sweetness, hints of malt lozenge. Simple, flawless, OK.
