My Bottom Line:
Lengthy malt flavors share hazelnuts, toast and grilled marshmallows, as cherry-like Munich malt angles take you into even more enjoyment.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam decorates the clear mahogany, producing some lacing.
-The mouthfeel is silky and refined.
-The finish is surprisingly dryish considering the nature of the flavors evoked.
-Drinkability is very high.
-Like Helles, this is one that needs to be drunk fresh at the pub.

Very dark brown. Light toasty, liquoricey note. The palate has rich toffee with lots of liquorice/anise. There are hints of coffee, but the body overall trends towards treacle, panela and other rich, dark sugars. Definitely a unique example and with these rich, intense dark fruity sugars it is right up my alley.

Draft @ brewery keller. Black, and opaque, looks more like a schwartz. Aroma is intense molasses. Full on dark sugar and soy sauce, in a good way. Light spritzy body. Great rich, intense flavors. Surprisingly not roasty, it’s more of the black sugar type of flavor profile. Nourishing beer, and I’m convinced this is the one they used to serve to the patients when the brewery was also a hospital...

Draught at Spitalgarten, Regensburg: Aroma of cacao beans and coffee. Black color, brown foamy head. Flavor is malty sweet, light sourly with intensive roasted malt notes in the end. Coffee flavor. Very delicious Dunkles.

Tapped. Appeared beautiful dark brown color with some reddish notes on light, big white head. Aroma - some caramel, fruits, a bit of chocolate flavour. Tastes light sweetness, some caramel and chocolate as well.

Schöner malziger Geruch. Riecht nach einem guten Dunkel. Das Bier ist noch 21 Tage haltbar. Im Antrunk ist es sehr säuerlich, dabei leicht röstmalzig. Der Hauptteil bleibt säuerlich mit süßlich-malzigem Unterton. Ich vermute, das Bier ist umgeschlagen, obwohl ich es "artgerecht" gelagert habe.
--> Neutest folgt!

soft and mellow dunkel from rain-city. watery texture like an english beer. bit of chocolate and prunes show up. nice long malty aftertaste. a good easygoing dark un.
