Clear pale yellow, white foam head. Barley aroma and taste, typical for this style. But with these temperatures, who cares. (Regensburg 201705) greks (381) - GERMANY - FEB 22, 2017

From draft at the brewery in Regensburg. Clear sparkling gold with a short white head. Aroma is lightly hoppy and lightly malty with notes of lemon and wildflowers and black pepper with subtle off-notes of detergent. Malt and carbonation is rough and overly-carbonic and grating on the palate, seems to not have been lagered long enough. It’s malty in the mouth with a decent baked cracker Pilsner malt effect, light bodied, bubbly, moderately sweet with medium-low bitterness. The nose shows some promise, and it’s decently malty in the mouth, but the coarseness isn’t very appealing and there’s some sourness in the finish. Draught Good, dense yellowish head over totally clear golden beer; lacerings. Fresh malt, even a bit graindust, finely grassy, but also some maltsyrup smell. Sweet - very sweet even - pale malts. Finish is drier, grassy-herbal. Light body, gristslickness. Falls dead tastewise, but feels better carbonated than it looks. Not a bad Helles, but really to the sweet side. neverleaveopen (254) - GERMANY - AUG 22, 2015
