Dont fight it, Spite It! October 9th marks bike messenger appreciation day, so raise a class of this IPA brewed and dry hopped with El Dorado and a pinch of Citra hops. These people are overworked and underpaid as they bike through anything that Mother Nature brings, delivering packages on time. What is better than a half-hour delivery service when its crunch time? So next time you see a messenger racing through a yellow light, get the hell out of the way!

Bomber courtesy of a trade, cloudy straw yellow, thin lacy foam, distinct aroma of strawberries and cream, flavors of hops and more strawberry, mild bitter and malty finish, can hardly tell its 10+% alcohol.... initially too sweet and fruity ... but growing on me, distinct and delicious!

22 oz. bottle shared by family from notes. Pours a slightly hazy orange amber color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have a bready malt base, caramel, lots of candied fruit hops, a splash of resin, some booze, definitely warming but the sweetness masks some of the alcohol.

Poured from the bomber, looks chunky dark orange with a white hue (strange) with about a finger of collar. Taste is gritty, citrus, some spice, with really good hop flavor and bitter at the end, cant taste any of that 10.9%. I have never employed the services of a bike messenger but I have seen them whipping around through downtown traffic (helmet-less) battling the taxi drivers and pedestrians with reckless abandon. Whatever they make Im sure is not enough and Ill raise a glass to just about anyone.

22 oz. Bottle. Pours an amber color with a medium white head. Nice lacing. Aroma of tropical fruit, citrus, guava, pineapple. Flavor is fruity, with mild sweetness, warm booze, above average bitterness. Medium body, average carbonation. Finishes warm, boozy, with mild bitterness. Overall, Spiteful has better but this is pretty good.

Spiteful has become one of my favorite breweries in Chicago. They hit a home run with their new spiteful ipa. It is new and not on rate beer. The el dorado hopps has now become my fav. Nice and bitte an citruscy. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle and served in my GI IPA tulip: Pours an lazy hazy golden hue with a rocky fading head with spotty lacework. The nose is very juicy with tropical and citrus. Some biscuity and bready malt and a pinch of light crystal malts. Mild mineral and metallic vapours as well. As expected this is NOT a hop bomb but something more akin to a Triple IPA where the sweetness is like candied fruit versus the caramel or toffee notes of a barleywine. Lightly dank, earthy, and even a hint of sea salt. The mouth feel is moderately heavy but the nicely hidden alcohol kept it mostly clean. Way too drinkable for 10+% brew... woof.

I gotta tell ya, Spiteful is starting to win me over. A few duds but more than often they surprise me with the brashful and enjoyable nature of the brews.
