UPDATED: AUG 1, 2017 Draft to taster at FoBAB 2016 from notes. Opaque black. Nose cinnamon, wood, light bourbon. Taste similar to nose with milk chocolate and light burn. Clownoisseur (490) - Buchanan, Michigan, USA - MAY 10, 2017
Bottle shared, pours a dark brown, near black...cinnamon colored head that breaks to fine lace. Aromas of cocoa, cinnamon, vanilla, bourbon, roasted malt, light char. Taste is beautifully balanced. Loads of fudge, cocoa and bitter dark chocolate...light notes of vanilla. The peppers provide a great counter to the sweetness. Mouthfeel is thick and creamy. Medium carbonation keeps things in check. Finishes with more milk chocolate with doses of bourbon and spice. Cant get over how balanced this was....extremely impressed! On tap @ FoBAB 2016. Pour is deep brown/black with a medium brown head. Notes of cinnamon, chocolate, vanilla extract, slight chili spice, and cocoa powder. Finish is sweet, boozy, and slightly spicy. Good. alexsdad06 (11392) - West Chester, Ohio, USA - NOV 22, 2016
Draft to taster at FoBAB 16. Pours dark brown to black in color with a small beige head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malt, bigger chocolate, cinnamon, vanilla, peppery spice, bigger body, great mouthfeel, I realize FoBAB can get crazy but this was one that stood out, all the flavors work seamlessly together, a real treat. The flavor starts with moderate chocolate and light vanilla. The finish has light-moderate cinnamon, mild roast, peppers, maple syrup, and mild bourbon. It’s full bodied with mild carbonation and a creamy mouthfeel.

Shared bomber poured to my snifter showing a darkest brown color, with some ruby highlighting, brownish tan head foam, and clingy spots of lacing. The nose was roasted, cocoa, a blend of cherry & concord grape, light spice, and sweetness. The taste continued with similar notes, presented some tartness, modest, tannic astringency, and healthy booziness. A quality RIS,... From notes. 4-5 ish oz pour on draft at FoBAB on November 21. The pour on this is a thing of beauty. It’s black as night, with a medium sized brown head and no lace to be found as it falls to a thick ring. The aroma is really good. There is a nice chocolate up front and a strong dark fruit and a hint of cinnamon. A nice caramel and woodiness poke through, which is nice. Toward the end is where the pepper starts to make itself known. It’s a nice balance for sure. The flavor is very similar. The chocolate and cinnamon start it off and the pepper comes in earlier than the nose. There is a nice fruitiness and then the chocolate comes through on the back end, keeping the pepper well checked. The mouth feel is a bit thin. It’s got a nice carbonation, and a lingeringly peppery chocolate aftertaste. It’s a really good beer. Reminds me of a lighter version of Huna or Abraxas. Very good. 22oz bomber. Chocolate, cinnamon and pepper. Almost perfect balance between all the adjuncts where they just kind of blend together into their own unique flavor. Barrel is very light but adds nicely. ARH (1141) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 20, 2015
UPDATED: DEC 21, 2015 22oz bottle, poured into a sampler tulip. The aroma is chocolate with sweet, tart fruits (almost fruit stripe gum like), a mild wood, very mild caramel, and just a hint of hot peppers. It pours a dark, deep mahogany red-brown with a thin, tan, head that has ok retention, and a mild lace. The taste is highly sweet, with a medium high bitterness that?s well hidden. It?s smooth, and not overly thick, with a mild fizz and a full body. At first it?s a deep, rich gourmet dark chocolate bar with a mild pepper zing, and tart fruit notes. Near the end a maraschino cherry becomes more prevalent with a supporting chocolate note. The finish is surprisingly clean with a subtle alcohol warmth and a wood resin quality, dark fruit note that fades, and a slight hint of pepper. and leaves a light chocolate aftertaste.
