Pours an opaque, oily black with a nice yellowish small head. Aroma is capuccino with cocoa and citrus. Flavor is same chocolate with orange, with a gentle but firmly citrus flavor. More a FES on steroids than an Imperial Stout in my opinion, drinks much more complex and easier at the same time than the 8% abv on the label. Fantastic. From notes. Enjoyed at a small get together at Ed’s house after the mandatory Hunahpu’s Day nap. 22 oz bottle. The pour is a lighter black with a thick khaki colored head and no lace as it slowly falls down. The aroma is pretty roasty up front. There is a lighter chocolate as it warms and a hint of booziness about it. It’s got a light maltiness that tries to poke through, but it’s struggling. The flavor is much of the same. The alcohol is really coming through, and this little bear is literally telling me G.F.Y. It’s got a light chocolate and a strong bitter roast on the finish. The mouth feel is lighter and decently carbonated with a lingering bitter roast and boozy finish. This one needs a little time I feel. CanIHave4Beers (4233) - Pouring Bus, Iowa, USA - DEC 25, 2015
Dug up some old rating from when mydude shared this one w/ a few bros in a location remote of my dining room. Mr_Abner (388) - Michigan, USA - AUG 16, 2015
Pours basically black with a small head and some lacing on the glass.
The aroma is lots of toasty malt, plenty of coffee and some light ash. It’s sweet smelling but not in any way that would suggest it would be some sort of dessert beer.
The flavor is actually fairly dry but it’s got a lit of toasty malt, some coffee and a general big roasty bitterness.
Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with a khaki head that quickly fades to a ring around the glass. Most prominent aroma is alcohol, some chocolate. Taste is similar. Lightly bitter, lots of (cheap vodka) alcohol taste, chocolate malt, light roasted malt. Body is a touch thin, average carbonation, lightly bitter finish.

My Bottom Line: djd07 (15664) - Houston, Texas, USA - MAR 11, 2015
This chocolate brownie of an Imperial Stout also steps into caramel, oatmeal and roasted coffee territories for a pleasurable dessert experience.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam dwindles to a ring atop the brown-edged black.
-Alcohol doesn’t really appear in the flavor profile.
-That is one mighty delicious grain bill.
-This one’s begging for a thick steak.
-Mouthfeel is prickly yet sweet. Could be a bit tighter on that front.
-This is not an Impy which tries to overwhelm the senses. It’s just pure dark malt goodness.
Bottle. Pours a dark brown with medium beige head that lasts leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is roasted malt and chocolate. Medium mouth with similar flavor to nose, nice sweet malt, raisin and light smoke finish, very good. GRM (4203) - Aylmer, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 8, 2015

Purchased at West Lakeview Liquors in Chicago, IL; enjoyed at home on a rare open Saturday night. Appearance is thick pitch black with a nice moderate tan head. Aroma is rather complex, nice notes of coffee, rich chocolate, licorice, hazelnut, lactose, smoke, really nice. Taste is very good, like a boozy chocolate brownie, huge chocolate and lactose flavor with smokey notes, light licorice, just really well done. One of my new favorite Chicago breweries.
