From a bottle shared by jcwattsrugger. Pours black with a one finger tan head. Minimal lace. Aroma is coffee that’s been left in the pot to long, licorice and roasted malt. Bitter flavor, in a good way, with a light sweetness as it warms. Full bodied. JoePeesie (925) - Long Lake, Illinois, USA - OCT 1, 2013
Pours a jet black with 2 fingers of brown head. Nice hop nose, a bit of leather and tobacco on the back end, hops on the front end. Good stuff. I was very much in the mood for just this beer, and was please to see Spiteful deliver on the first offering of theirs I have tried. jmagnus87 (2912) - Rockford, Illinois, USA - SEP 21, 2013
Bottle poured into a shaker. Pours black with a half finger of dark brown head. Coffee dominates the aroma but there are hints of vanilla and burnt malts. Taste is bitter. Coffee with a little dark chocolate and burnt malts. Full bodied with a creamy texture. Soft carbonation and a very long finish. Overall, awesome. I could drink this every day. italianjohn (3108) - Penndel, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 21, 2013
Batch 21 .... Pitch black pour with a thin beige head ... aroma of roasted malts, dark bitter chocolate and some coffee .... taste is of roasted malts, light smoke at first which went away, fresh coffee beans, bitter dark chocolate and a pretty intense bitter hop bite .... mouthfeel is slick and viscous/oily and the body is medium .... finish is dry, hoppy and roasted .... solid brew abv hidden well Jriggz7 (117) - Indiana, USA - SEP 8, 2013
Appearance: black opaque body mocha head that dissipates to thin ring
Aroma: slight olive, chocolate, fair amount of solvent alcohol
Taste: semi sweet chocolate upfront, dry roastness with slight character of fuggle and cascade. Milky mouth feel. Medium bitterness . Decent stout with no outstanding character besides balance tip more to bitter.
