Bottle shared by Tmoney99. Pours dark brown to black in color with a small beige head. The aroma had roasted malts, chocolate, ash and some vague earthy hops. The flavor has dark roasted malts, ash, some earthy bitter hops with a dry bitter finish. Not much in the way of flavoring hops. This is not something I would revisit. nearbeer (5424) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - AUG 5, 2012
Pint on tap. Dark chocolate with a lasting creamy foam. Nose is coffee and earthy citrus zest. Flavor is caramel, citrus, coffee, cocoa and a finish with lots of resin. Medium body has low carbonation and is well balanced. jhp40219 (449) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - AUG 3, 2012
Aroma is earthy, light hops, faint chocolate. Pours a dark brown, almost soda-like. Tastes thin and watered down. Dull hops, very malty, slight chocolatey finish. Weird acidic aftertaste that burns the tongue and throat. Thin, overly carbonated palate. Very underwhelming and disappointing for a Black I.P.A. Downright awful. I honestly could use a chaser while drinking this! This is cheap for a reason. Tmoney99 (14501) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUL 31, 2012
Bottle. Poured clear dark brown with an average frothy light brown head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate toasted earthy hop aroma. Medium body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy over toasted dark sweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate duration. This is just a good beer. b3shine (8878) - Indiana, USA - JUL 19, 2012
Bottle to snifter (thanks tmoney99). Looks good; pitch black with creme-colored lacing. Smells solid; hoppy and malty. Tastes smokey, roasty and malty...which would be fine it it was a porter. Mouthfeel is average. Misrepresented...and it costs them.

22oz bottle. Dark brown pour with a larger sized off white head. Aromas of roast, floral hops, and lighter coffee. Tastes of the same but on the thinner and somewhat watery side. boozedude (2228) - Des Moines, Iowa, USA - JUL 9, 2012
Pours black ...big thick head.. taste is diffrent..good but hard to explain...some licorice coffe..hopps.. Has a bite for finish but not unplesant.. Not my normal type of ipa..but glad i tried it...prolly wont again... DrSilverworm (9671) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUL 8, 2012
22oz bottle. Nice thin brown head, leaving good lace. Black color with particles visible suspended in the body. Smooth carbonation, very dry finish. Spicy hops. Toasted, almost burnt malt aroma is prominent. Little roasted toasty coffee bean. Chocolate. Pretty bitter taste. Pretty interesting black IPA, but not exactly the tastiest, and a low drinkability is holding it back. Thin, quite spicy, and too dry to be drinkable. I should have shared this bomber, I couldn’t finish the last bit. Juelze (1146) - Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA - JUL 5, 2012
This was just nasty. There aren’t many beers out there that I loathe to drink, but this one made this list. It had done nasty, acrid, bitter profile that was like drinking a good black ipa out of an ash tray inside of a shoe. Pretty? Most definitely. Tasty? No way in hell. bottle, from Triangle Wine, has number in gold on back of 11350, looks hand written. ok aroma, roasty, little wet cardboard, roasted malt, minor grapefruit scent. weak overall. dark orangy brown color, small head, spotty lace. bitter sweet flavor, medium body, creamy mouthfeel, bitter finish. meh, aroma weak, flavor is bitter, but largely uninteresting.
