Bottle. Black color with a thin white head. Root beer aroma and flavor. An average offering. slowrunner77 (12804) - Reno, Nevada, USA - JUL 25, 2016
Good but not AS good as NYFRB. This one is bourbon barrel aged which adds a depth and sweetness, but otherwise is a little more pedestrian.

Pours brown from bottle with a thin khaki head. Not a lot going on the nose. Faint hints of vanilla maybe. It tastes like an artificially flavored pale lager or champale rather than an attempt at root beer. Has kind of a disgusting lingering finish that resembles vomit. Nasty shit!

You can add alcohol, but I still don’t like root beer. Sampled at Growler U.S.A., Eugene, Oregon. Drake (14078) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 23, 2016
From notes. This was once unrateable here... 12 ounce bottle shared at the 9th Richmond Rare & Unusual Epic Tasting, Richmond, VA, 11/30/14. Pours a clear copper with a thin head. Fair head retention. Aroma of straight root beer, honey, vanilla. The taste is root beer, vanilla, honey, mild bourbon. Medium bodied, overly sweet but does deliver on the concept.

Bottle from Total Wine in Folsom, CA. Pours dark ruddy brown with a transient beige head. Smells like sarsaparilla. Med minus body. Tastes like a sweet sarsaparilla. Some vanilla, which may be where the bourbon comes in. Not sure I’m getting wood. Finishes too sweet, but that’s just me. crossovert (13908) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JAN 3, 2016
355ml twist off. Old rate. fizzy ruby pour. Sickly sweet all-around notes of anise and bourbon. beer_rookie (660) - Arkansas, USA - DEC 2, 2015
First off, let’s just say that I’m rating a Hard Root Beer. I guess it’s a root beer flavored beer, but I’m rating it as such.BillWyce (1104) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 30, 2015
It pours a dark amber color. It has a slight head, pretty lingering. Lacing, eh, not so much.
Smells like root beer, nothing more to say. It smells really good, really inviting.
Tastes like root beer. I’ve had Sprecher Root Beer, and it’s very similar to that taste. There is a slight odd off bitterness, but I can’t really put my finger on it. Still tastes like root beer.
Mouthfeel is excellent. It tastes exactly like root beer. A little spiciness, a little vanilla. Is there really alcohol in this?
Overall, 5% alcohol, tastes exactly like root beer, what more could you want? Well, if it were just a little bit heavier, it might be the perfect beer. I’ve rated some fruit flavored beers much lower than this, but this actually tastes like root beer. I’m thinking of Coors Citrus Radler, it’s okay, but doesn’t really tastes like anything. But this tastes like root beer, and a good one at that. For a flavored beer, it’s amazing.
Pours lightly cloudy nut brown with a 1-finger tan head. Moderate bubbling on the glass. Aroma of root beer syrup, with a creamy note and some vanilla that seemed artificial. Medium body, a bit oily, with a brief finish. Earthy flavor of root beer syrup, with some sourness (cherry?) and a touch of vanilla. Wasn’t impressed with this. mvp (270) - Harper Woods, Michigan, USA - OCT 14, 2015
Soda pop black with a fizzy white head that disappears. Aroma of root beer and yeast. Bad aftertaste. Not really an enjoyable beer or root beer.
