22oz bottle 5/14/14 (Discount Liquors-Waukesha)-43° in Shaker-Pours a murky brown with a small ring for a head. Aroma of caramel, toffee, malt, and dark fruits. Taste of malt, toffee, bourbon, oak, and caramel. This full bodied brew has a lot going on but is a nice sipping kinda brew on a cold night. This one poured a mruky light brown with a biege head. Aroma was of caramel, dark fruits and bronw sugar. Falvor was lightly peaty and caramel, typical scotish ale. Art (3217) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 30, 2014
Bottle shared at DLD. Pours a copper color without much head. Aroma is caramel and toffee. Taste is sweet and syrupy. Pretty good stuff for a wee heavy. charule (2268) - New York, New York, USA - APR 30, 2014
Bottle share at DLD. Dark amber color beige head. Sweet caramel oak aroma. Light carb med bod. Sweet scotch peaty taste. Surprising. tmoreau (4374) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - MAR 26, 2014
Shared bomber, poured to snifters showing a dark brown color, with a modest layer of light tan head foam, and spotty lacing. The nose was sweet & malty, with notes of caramel & molasses, a touch of dark grape, some peat, and ready alcohol. Medium bodied, with low carbonation, the flavor carried over similar notes, showed some warmth, but produced a bit of medicinal taste, with the texture thinning out toward the finish. An okay wee heavy.

No date on bottle, aged over a year at least. Pours a dark ruby red amber. Small, partly pasty, wispy tan head with good lace. Aroma finds smooth bourbon, oak, vanilla, some dark fruits, toffee,..sweet. Flavor adds some peat. Lighter Medium body. Still well carbonated. Pleasant alcohol warming, probably taken off a bit by the age. Light smokiness. Bit of sour woodiness in the middle. Bourbon barrel character compliments. Nose and initial taste are the highlights. Backend and finish leave me wanting. A bit watery. MarinEvelyn (854) - Wisconsin, USA - FEB 26, 2014
Aged for at least a year. Strong alcohol, oak, vanilla, roasty, malty aroma. Decent sized white head that disappears rather quickly. Taste is similar. Very malty, roasty, alcohol. A slight alcohol burn at the end but fairly smooth. ApisAles (1575) - Greenbelt, Maryland, USA - NOV 6, 2013
Really nice scotch ale. Deep orange/brown pour with little to no head. Aroma is peat, very light smoke, strong caramel and malt notes. Flavor is deep caramel, malt and a bare hint of smoke. Nicely balanced. Good. jgb9348 (6281) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - SEP 14, 2013
Hazy, muddy brown and ruby tinted body with a very thin, oily tan head and almost no movement at all. Aroma of huge amounts of oak, scotch, whiskey, brandy, cognac, rye and a ton of sugars - pungent, for sure. Full-bodied; Strong whiskey and brandy flavours throughout with some pit fruit notes, a little raisin, some earthy malt and a dry oaky finish, but the alcohol notes are by far the strongest. Aftertaste shows the warmth of a scotch or brandy with a hint of sugars, a lot of oak and dryness, a tiny yeast note and a lot more alcohol kick. Overall, a super pungent beer that is perhaps a bit too much like a scotch or brandy than a beer - but if that’s what you want, then definitely try this beer. It’s a bit too strong for me, but definitely too strong, considering this is a 65 cL bottle. A well put together beer, but a bit too strong and too large. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Discount Liqour in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on 05-September-2012 for US$13.99 sampled just over a year later at home in Washington on 14-September-2013. brokensail (16449) - Dublin, California, USA - MAY 6, 2013
Copper colored pour with an off-white head. Nose is smokey and peaty with some chocolate, vanilla, and dark fruit. Sweet caramel and brown sugar, and certainly some alcohol. The flavor is smokey and boozy. Caramel, dark fruit, and brown sugar sweetness. Light vanilla and chocolate.
