travita (4935) - Dallas, Texas, USA - JUN 11, 2008
Light brown to red in color, clear, and has a decent head. Smell is dark stone fruits, brown sugar, vanilla, and alcohol. Taste is a lighter than the smell, sugary, sweet, alcohol, and malts.

Pours brown. Looks like a watered down cola. Nose is unique, but not pleasant. Has a sweet malty smell(too sweet). Scotch is barely evident in its flavor. Overall its flavor is not something I enjoyed and have poured it down the drain 3X now. While I enjoy Ale and multiple versions of scotch(Islay is the favorite), this isnt palatable to me. Definitely an acquired taste. After three tries, I can honestly say this one is not for me.

chimplechamp (601) - Oslo, NORWAY - MAR 29, 2008
Cask at chelsea brewery cask fest.- Nose is spicy, pours cloudy brown ints of red, little head with small beige bubbles, some wine in the nose. bourbon, vanilla oak. tastes like watered down single malt scotch. a little bit watery very good overall. tastes a little like a thanksgiving dinner. very full bodied. loads of whiskey. the last drop was like a watered down speyside.

michael-pollack (4959) - King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 28, 2008
1L Bottle: Aroma of alcohol, bourbon, vanilla, oak, peat, and malts. Poured copper/deep amber in color with a small to medium-sized, creamy, dense, brown head that diminished slowly. Clear. Some medium-sized particles. Sparkling. Tastes of bourbon, vanilla, peat, alcohol, and smoke. Medium body. Thin, oily texture. Soft carbonation. Smokey bourbon finish.

chimpscampee (566) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - MAR 23, 2008
Greasy corn syrup, butterscotch, peat. Lacks carbonation. This would be overpriced even if it didnt taste and smell bad. Pathetic. To put this on the market shows this brewer has lost integrity if it ever had it.

DocLock (10293) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 10, 2008
Pours turbid deep brown with frothy, 1-finger off-white head. Aroma is malty, with nuts, brown sugar, raisins, and earthy peaty oaky notes. The flavor is rich, malty, with defined oaky, earthy, some vanilla, fig, raisins, and brown sugary notes. It does get a bit hot as it warms, and the carbonation is a bit low, and technically this doesnt fit the scotch ale profile, but I still found this to be an enjoyable libation on a cold winter night.

beerbuzzmontreal (3487) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 18, 2008
Clear dark amber pour with a ring of offwhite lace. Unpleasant aroma and flavor of bourbon, butterscotch and corn syrup. The body is light to medium with a liquorous texture and low carbonation.

   AROMA 5/10   APPEARANCE 1/5   TASTE 4/10   PALATE 2/5   OVERALL 7/20
Rastacouere (6174) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 17, 2008
Objectively speaking: Flat, oxidized and buttery, heavily bourbon influenced scotch ale. Almost 20$
I like: Genuine caramelized notes. Vanilla notes.
I dislike: Cheap bourbon smell exuberant. Butterscotch abundance. Corn oil. Greasiness. Fading head. Growing alcohol blast. Absent carbonation. Lifeless pour. Oxidation. No smoke.
