This 8%’er pours a deep red brown with a healthy head and good aroma. I was pleased that the caramel aroma and flavor is subtle. This is more bread than caramel which I prefer. The alcohol definitely gives it some weight. Good one.
Mahogany pour, aroma is a touch dusty but flavor and feel are full and rich - bread, caramel and hints of chocolate. Good. mrjaxson (588) - .08 Junction, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 31, 2016
Sprecher has always excelled in darker, heavier beers and this is a great example. Heavy cherry, fig and plum scents and a sweet, tangy finish. Always worth breaking out when the Wisconsin weather turns cold (in other words, most of the year). saxman61 (7) - Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 25, 2015 does not count
Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a dimpled mug. Pours dark with a hint of red. Small light foamy off white head. Sweet aroma of fruits. Raisin and fruitcake flavors on the palate. For some reason I detect a hint of black licorice. This is a very well rounded dopplebock. Enjoyed every sip of this beer!

12 ounce bottle from Hayduke that we had together via facebook chat. Deep brown with plenty of amber. A one finger tan head. I smell dark fruit including raisins. Rich malts. That is tasted, too. Brown sugar and some sourness. That sourness might be from hops and some citrus is noted. Some alcohol. Complex malts drive this beer. tnkw01 (1753) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - FEB 8, 2015
Bottle. Deep amber with a small head. Aroma, raisins, dried fruit. Taste is fruitcake and dried fruit.

UPDATED: NOV 14, 2014 Very dark with red highlights. Malty aroma. Taste- rich chocolate and notes of coffee and dark fruit. Sweet but also some tart cherry sourness. Ok dopplebock. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone drdisque (840) - Illinois, USA - AUG 30, 2014
From a 12 oz bottle poured in a stem glass. Pours muddy brown. Aroma is thin and chocolatey. Flavor is fairly crisp, with chocolate and burnt grain notes. Fairly thin mouthfeel. Good, but unexceptional dopplebock. chinchill (5024) - South Carolina, USA - APR 23, 2014
12 oz. bottle with new label displaying 8.0% ABV, served in a snifter.
Pours dark, ruby brown color, with a small off-white head. that never completely covers the body and is soon gone.
Aroma is sweet, with hints of black bread, brown sugar, and dried plums.
Sweet up front, but balancing bitterness kicks in at the finish.
Medium body and near medium carbonation.
Overall: very good example of style. silverseven78 (1) - - FEB 21, 2014 does not count
One of the worst beers I have ever tried. I took a tour of the brewery and the tourguide talked more about Soda then beer
