Very dark brown color with a small beige head. Very roasty aroma with some dark fruit and lactose sourness. Very roasty, creamy lactose flavor with some plum. Medium body, light carbonation. Slightly dry finish. BlowOffTube (501) - Michigan, USA - NOV 2, 2013
Decent but not much to it. Pours a warery black with light tan head. Not much arms, just slight chocolate and grain. Taste is watered down chocolate, hints of burnt coffee, and grain. Very light body and medium carbonation. Pjones6738 (500) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 7, 2004
Very dark, with a nice brown head. Dark chocolate scent. Commercial description seems to be pretty accurate on this one. Both coffee and dark chocolate are certainly noticable in the taste. Becomes acidic as it warms. jebert (500) - Watertown, Wisconsin, USA - MAR 9, 2008
Pours a opaque dark black/brown color with a creamy tan head of foam mostly lasting. Aroma is of carmel, coffee and dark chocolate. Texture is very smooth and creamy. Carmel roasted malt flavor with coffee overtones. Excellent crisp finish. Very enjoyable stout, stands up well to the original stouts brewed on the Emerald Isle. Pairs well with corn beef sandwiches and cabbage. awiseman01 (469) - Indianapolis, Indiana, USA - JAN 8, 2010
Bottle from VBS on 52 in W.Lafayette. Pours dark, slight transparency with foamy beige head that fades. Nose is semi-dark roasted barley. Flavor is very dry and bitter roasted barley, slight coffee/chocolate, and a long lingering dry finish that dries the mouth completely. A very different and odd flavor, dominated by dryness and not much else. Decent.

UPDATED: DEC 20, 2008 Deep amber color with a medium brown head. Dry flavor of roasted coffee with a mild chocolate aroma and a creamy mouth feel. jewedekind (450) - Middleton, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 18, 2004
Light nose. Brief, uninspiring off white/tan head. Nice roasted flavor, but low in body. Dark chocolate on the back end. Unassertive for what it is supposed to be. More of a small porter. MaltOne (371) - Wisconsin, USA - MAR 25, 2017
Pours opaque dark brown: tan, fine laced head. Aroma is part slightly sour beer hall, part roasted malt. Flavor follows aroma, more emphasis on the roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, a bit of ash. Palate is light at first, finishing dry with a lingering thread of sweet. Overall, a decent session Irish style. Mrthirstyneck (341) - Minnesota, USA - MAR 26, 2007
nice beer most has been said here tried all the aprechers out this week was pleased with all of them grab a 4 pack today! GET SURLY Ofortuna (322) - Grafton, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 16, 2005
Tinny/metallic, thin body but with decent coffee tones. Far too few hops to be labelled as an irish stout.
