This beer didn't settle too well with me. Lots of malt flavor, but none of it is really good. The aftertaste leaves your mouth pretty foul too. Tastes a lot like their pub ale, but a bit better. Odyn (268) - New York, USA - AUG 26, 2008
Good drinkable brew that has a clean taste and is quite enjoyable. Not as lovely as some of their other beers. bipolar1 (268) - Hancock, Michigan, USA - OCT 6, 2001
UPDATED: APR 5, 2005 Certainly pales in comparison to Sprecher Black Bavarian. I think they missed the mark here. I’m not a big amber guy, but I’d go with Bell’s before this smashteroid (262) - Alabama, USA - JAN 1, 2007
on tap. pours a nice amber color with a thin off-white head that was not quick to fade. the aroma wasn’t as strong as i’d expected (or as strong as the previous drink i had that evening), but i could pick up on the hops and a hint of malt. the taste was nicely hoppy and carbonated. there was a good bite at the front and the finish was slightly sweet. (on tap) A very even-tempered brew. Medium copper color with a thinnish head. A very full taste that leans a little to the bitter side. Maybe slightly over-carbonated, but very nice!

fairly ok beer. real robust malty flavor. but I don’t think I can drink many of these. big downside is that blasted 16 oz bottles warm to fast for a bocce ball sipping beer. Major penelty on overall score because it is horribly overpriced. mvcramer (243) - Lexington, Massachusetts, USA - JUN 12, 2008
A quality amber lager. Looks a bit better than the flavor that I got. Pours a gorgeous copper color with a puffy white head. Very nice. Aroma is decent, though not quite as floral as a top Vienna, like a Sam Boston Lager. A bit over bittered on the back of the palate. Enjoyable, but not one of the best. Would definitely order again, if given the opportunity. Lilith (242) - Santiago, CHILE - JUN 28, 2007
Big solid frothy head. Clear amber color body. Aroma: sweet, hoppy, fruity, notes of peach and bread. Flavor: sweet, honey, anice, flowery, bitterish end. Dry finish; sticky palate. triguy84 (235) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - SEP 22, 2009
I guess amber lagers are this way, not impressive, but ok. Clear copper color, thin white haed. Hints of malt aroma, no hops. Caramel and malt flavors. Medium bodied, hop bitterness that lingered. thejoeshow (232) - Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA - JUN 13, 2008
16oz Bottle. Pours a dark amber/orange with a nice, white, lingering head that laces very nicely. Aroma is mainly sweet malts with a hint of hop presence but nothing super notable. The flavor comes in sweet in the front with a bit of bitter at the end. So I guess that makes it fairly balanced. :) I do feel that there could be a little more to the flavor, it’s a fairly "safe" beer, however, it’s not bad.
