sepia, large-bubbled oily cap. Roasty cobweb oak nose, light anise, smoke plenty. Front is heavy anise bordering on jam fruitiness, smoke all over oaky mid palate. Definitely smoked at this point, finishing camp-firish with leafy chocolate hints, some salty smoke, creamy body allowing it to continue through end.
Poured a bit of a brown color with a small light off-white head. Aroma was smoked malts, lots of smoked notes dominate this one. Light nutty notes from the malts, sweetness. Toasty. Smoked finish. Damico (3147) - Royersford, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 19, 2014
Wow, smokey smokey. Aroma is a ton of smoke and some peat and band aid. Pours thick brownish not completely unclear with a darker amber hue. Flavor brings heaps of smoke and bandaid. snoworsummer (5697) - baltimore, Maryland, USA - DEC 28, 2013
Draft at the taproom. Pours dark brown with a creamy beige head and lots of lacing. Tastes very smokey and very ashy. Earthy and dry like charcoal. Light body and low/medium carbonation. Smells like ashy coals and smoked wood. sonnycheeba (5988) - Federal Hill, Baltimore, Maryland, USA - DEC 28, 2013

One of my first smoked porters good but not great. Aroma is smokey and bitter.Dark brown in color with a small tan head that dissipates quick. Flavor is very robust and to smokey for me.

Smoky nose. This one is a bit too much for me. It drinks very well, and is super smooth. It's a good beer, just not for me.

Almost black with a thin off white head. Aroma and taste are thick bacony smoke. Kudos for going bold, but it’s anything but subtle, with not so much malt behind it. $15/44 oz pitcher. DocLock (10689) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 16, 2010
Bottle from Smith’s. Pours dark brownish black w 1f tan head and great lacing. Nose is huge smoked dark malt, cacao. Tastes rauchy, with dark malt, and some dry coffee and hop notes. Medium palate heft, decent complexity, and a solid smoked malt bill. Very good. beastiefan2k (3981) - HdG (past: NYC, KS, Rain City), Maryland, USA - MAY 29, 2010
UPDATED: NOV 18, 2015 Nice hookup from hopdog. 750mL bottle. Pours with a dark brown color and a small head. Aroma is not just smoked but as nice chard character. I like the mix of smoke and char. Flavor has more smoke and a cedar character. Its light and not boozy. Good smoke beer.
Re-rate: wow, when the heck did I have this beer originally. Well, I am at the brewpub right now in Lancaster. The beer seems to have changed a lot. Its a really tasty porter but I get no smoke, such a small percentage of the malt bill. I’ll leave the original rating b/c I am too lazy to think of new numbers.
