Tap at brewpub. It’s 80 degrees out but I’m tired of hoppy lighter beers. Time for Dark brews. Pours very deep brown hue with a small fizzy eggshell head and sparse lacing. Nose is roasty char yeasty and sweet maple. Flavors are balanced between the sweet maple and roasty malts. Body is lite and easy to smash. Very dry finish with lingering hops and roast. Very nice brew could be this brewers best.

Crushed with Jakebra. Could get through this one. Kinda bittersweet. Neat combination of flavors. Dug it.

Sweet sugary syrup taste in a nice stout. Black with small ring of off white head. Had this poured from draft at Square One brewery in St Louis.

On tap at Square One. Pours opaque black with a thick caramel head. Aroma is maple and coffee. Slick mouth feel with low carbonation on the tongue. Taste is coffee and dark chocolate. Not much maple in the flavor unfortunately. Has a bitter coffee backend. Not bad.

Had on tap at their place. Pours a dark brown with a thin tan head. Aroma is coffee and slight maple. Flavor is coffee and slight maple. Light bodied. Finishes dry. Not really a sweet stout but really nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft at brewpub. Pours black with a khaki head. Leaves trace lacing. A bit sugary on the nose. I definitely get the maple on the tongue but also an undertone of a burnt note. Finishes fairly clean. I was hoping this would be a little better.

Dark black. Nice tan head. Make works extremely well with this. This would be amazing smoked. Well done stout.

UPDATED: NOV 3, 2014 ORIGINAL RATING 3/18/2013: Had a half-pint on tap at the brew pub. It poured a clear, medium brown colour with weak off-white foam and some lace. Not at all stout-like, but nice true-to-style Nut Brown Ale aromas and flavors plus maple syrup, more in the aroma than flavour. Malty, fruity, caramelly, bready, with that delicious woodsy, resiny sweetness. Would make the perfect breakfast beer. Not terribly complex, but very tasty. Recommended. UPDATE: tasted again at the St. Louis Brewer’s Guild Harvest Fest, temporarily renamed "Butterbeer" for their Halloween/Harry Potter/Hogwarts theme. Still more nut brown ale than stout, but tasty.

Sampled on tap at Square One on 01/12. Pours a black color with tan head. Roasty, maple syrup, and pancakes in the flavor. Tastes like pancakes and breakfast. Interesting.
