Sampled along the RBSG 2014 bus tour. On draft at the brewery. Very malty with toffee and a touch of smoke. Very clear red, off white head. Smokey and toffee taste with some earthy notes. Decent. crossovert (12926) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUN 23, 2014
Draft. Amber/brown appearance, slightly hazed, herbal, lighter roast notes, toffee. Mundane. jcnielsen (3412) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - FEB 12, 2013
Sampled on tap at Square One on 01/12. Pours a deep red-brown color with off white head. Malty, caramel flavors. This beer doesn’t quite match your typical scotch style. cubs (10635) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - JAN 13, 2013
Tap @ Square One. Pours a dark orangish brown appearance with a disappearing white head. Caramel, toasted malty, herbal, a bit smoky aroma. Fairly herbal, smoked, burnt caramel, a bit earthy flavor. Really just not my style, but I had a hard time drinking it. gregwilsonstl (2504) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - DEC 26, 2012
Dark red. Sweet and hoppy balance. No head whatsoever. Caramel. Tasty. Medium body, lots of flavor.

October 30, 2012 on tap at brewpub. Clear light brown pour with head that faded quickly. Aroma was malty and caramel . Taste was consistent with a slight spicy bitterness in the finish but almost too sweet for me. unclemike (3124) - Ft. Riley, Kansas, USA - JUL 22, 2012
on tap at brewpub Good coloring. Not sweet at all. A definite spike in the bittering, doughy, peaty, quick crisp finish, although some tannic qualities linger on. Not ale-y enough, but well-balanced and very drinkable., I expected it to get a little bit more caramel as it warmed, but it didn’t. This almost reminds me of an alt. Good, drinkable, but just mildly Scottish. musinj6 (506) - Dedham, Massachusetts, USA - APR 15, 2011
Slightly sweet aroma with amber appearance and thin head. Malty taste with caramel finish. Notes of scotch with subtle woody flavor. Smooth finish. Overall a delicious beer and goes very well with the Square One on-site distilled whiskey served neat on the side. DJMonarch (9179) - Northwich, Cheshire, ENGLAND - MAR 29, 2011

Malt aroma. Bronze coloured a little rich and sweet on the palate with a hint of bitterness in a dry malt finish. jandd1983 (4318) - Wentzville, Missouri, USA - FEB 27, 2011
Sampler at the brewpub. The pour is a dark brown with a tan head. Flavor is again more malty but not any smokiness or toffee. Just a heavy malted brew. Not bad if you like Scotch Ales.
