Wow, this was rather a surprise! A friend brought this back from a SLC trip, and whenever I see ’Amber’ on a bottle, I usually shy away. Nose is almost of a single IPA...nice and malted and piney. Flavors are dark plum malts, burnt caramel, and a great hopped backing to finish it all out. If all Ambers tasted like this, I probably wouldn’t despise the style so much!

Clear amber with light brown foam head, staying and lacing. Aroma is caramel but hopy aroma’s are there too. Taste si quite bitter for an amber, little caramel. Surprisngly good beer. (Salt Lakr City 201308)

Pours dark amber with a thin white head. Sweets very sweet and carmely. Taste cloyingly sweet and raisin aftertaste. Kind of like a belgian but without the heavy alcohol. Not very good I expected more from this too bad.

Squatters Big Cottonwood has a medium, soapy, cream-colored head, a mostly clear, deep amber appearance, lots of streaming bubbles, and a little bit of lacing left behind. The aroma is of piney hops, bread crust, and sweetness, and the flavor is strongly of hop oil, with sweet bread crust, some toffee, and a bit of pecan shell. Mouthfeel is medium and slick, and Squatters Big Cottonwood finishes semi-dry, easy drinking, and sweet. It is a delicious beer. RJT

12oz bottle, thanks to my parents for bringing this back from a road trip. Shared 4 ways with the family. Bottled 4/24/13. Mostly clear amber-red color. Thin khaki head. Loose dots of lace. Medium body, smooth, lighter carbonation. Lightly crisp. Lightly dry finish. Caramel malts, lightly toasty. Some decent light earthy, light spicy hops. Moderate bitter taste, light to moderate sweet. Pretty good amber ale, definitely above average. Better than expected.
