pours a syrupy black with brown head - aroma of alcohol and fruit - sweet with lots of molasses and brown sugar in the flavor.
From a can. Pours thick and black with a tan head. The head is foamy, modest lacing. Aroma is primarily bacon and bitter chocolate. Taste is bittersweet, trending bitter at the finish. Amid subtle cherry hints are plenty of smoke, bacon, and chocolate. Body is thick and chewy. A rich and complex brew. GenDV138 (7285) - Falls Church, Virginia, USA - JUL 12, 2017

Picked this up with four others at Bier:Thirty on a recent work trip to Boise after getting a random 6-pack of cans earlier at Whole Foods. Looked quickly on Untappd to see that it had good ratings and picked it up. It was that quick.
Poured a pitch black oily color with two fingers of frothy tan head. Very light bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. Decent lacing. Good retention. (Sight - 3.75)
Lots of different notes in the nose. Got oak, molasses, barley, malt chocolate, cocoa, dark fruits, plum, toffee, black licorice, anise and vanilla cream. (Smell - 3.75)
Taste mainly followed the nose. Got roasted barley lead the way, followed by oak, molasses and milk chocolate. Vaguely reminded me of Founders Dirty Bastard. Also got toasted toffee, plum, earthy raisins, dark fruits, cocoa nibs, hints of anise and caramel syrup. Could taste that that booze early, but it mellowed late. (Taste - 4.00)
Full body. Slick texture. Average carbonation. Long, smooth, warming finish. For sure the best part of the beer. (Feel - 4.25)
This was a solid beer overall. Would have it again for sure. (Overall - 4.00)

Outer Darkness has a thin, tan head, a dark brown, nearly black appearance, some glass lacing, and a bit of brown, around the edges. Aroma is of rich, dark-roasted malt, brown bread crust, and some chocolate. Taste is of those elements, with no unpleasant burnt or charred features. Mouthfeel is heavy and velvety, and Outer Darkness finishes rich and sip-able. RJT coachd (837) - Missouri, USA - MAY 5, 2017
Definitely getting molasses and licorice from the aroma, also chocolate and a bit of spice. Nice jet black color with a brown head. Tastes a little watery, some sharp roast up front and more of the molasses/licorice, but odd tasting. Thin palate, overall it was just okay. I probably wouldn’t drink this again. Pours black with a creamy tan head, quickly dissipates, spotty lace. Aroma of chocolate, licorice, toasted nuts, mint. Creamy and silky on the tongue. Chocolate, Kahlua, nuttiness, lactose, licorice... Nice lingering roast finish. Cajun (534) - Lafayette, Louisiana, USA - APR 3, 2017
Can - Pours black, creamy tan head. Aroma of dark roasted malts, chocolate, nuts, coffee, and scorched pancakes. Flavorful tastes of bakers chocolate muffins, hints of coffee and wood. Bitter hops presence. ttoadee (1491) - Austin, Texas, USA - MAR 15, 2017
The viscosity as I poured this jet black brew was noticeable. A small mocha head left quickly. The nose shows coffee, chocolate and faint liquorice. Bittersweet . You need teeth to bite through the middle of this beer; full bodied blackened malt, liquorice, cherries, hint of caramel, and a large helping of molasses. The finish is sticky on the tongue, bittersweet, and silky malt smoothness. ABV lays very low, and very dangerous. Decidely good.
