Doff the cap of this complex Scottish Ale with 5.6% ALC/VOL, and in a wink you’ll be hearing Highland bagpipes as you sip this smoky, peaty, bonnie good brew. Aye. That’s the high road, that is.

Bland mild peat flavor. Grain with fizz on tongue. Okay body. Malty. Toasty. Not to bad a beer but nothing special either. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottled. Poured clear copper with a short-lived white head. The aroma picked up lightly-peated caramel malts with accents of vanilla and molasses.. came across sweet and welcoming. The flavor found caramel and bready notes on the middle, with fairly sharp peaty smoke and peppery notes laced throughout.. very sweet on the finish, but it also carried through some sharpness. Medium-bodied at most on the palate.. some tasty stuff, but it didn’t flow great.

12 oz. bottle, consumed on 12-14-14. Pours a moderately effervescent, clear, dull copper with a moderate amount of short-lasting, rose-hued beige head. Produces sporadic lacing. Looks pretty good, but I’ve seen many a similar-looking beer. Dry, lightly tangy, malty aroma features scents of chocolate and bran muffin. Malty flavor is mostly toffee sweet but does have some dryness in both the start and finish that I suspect comes more from peat smoke than from hops. That said, I wouldn’t call it smoky, and I certainly wouldn’t call it peaty in flavor. Long, dry aftertaste. Light to medium body. Somewhat lively and somewhat frothy in the palate. Ordinary palate effects. Pleasant flavors but not outstanding. Nice and pleasant overall. I feel like I’m being too hard on it when giving it a 3.2, but I don’t see any area that merits an increase in score.

Not bad but would be better with a touch less sweetness and a touch more peat. Maybe two or three touches.

Deep brown with a light cream head. Nose is sweet, caramel, fruits, and toffee. Easy palate, toffee, caramel, fruit, sweet finish.
