COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Behind its magnificent ruby-red colour, St. Ambroise Raspberry Ale reveals its refreshing charm from the moment you encounter its bouquet and flavour. Made with fresh raspberries and choice sun-ripened hops, it gently engages your tastebuds in a delicious explosion of flavours. Its delicate fruit aromas marry perfectly with the pleasant hop character typical of all St-Ambroise ales. Brewed in Quebec, just once a year, it’s a unique summertime treat.

Any first impressions?
-Prosperous whipped cream of a head sits atop the pinkish regal red, drawing tons of lacing.
-Faint raspberries pierce the sturdy foam.
-The mild balance of raspberry sweetness and tartness whispers simple refreshment.
-The expansive carbonation provides a frothy, festive mouthfeel, increasing drinkability.

What if you dig deeper?
-Some bittering hop resins nicely dry out the back of the palate.
-Wooden hops shyly accompany the meek raspberries in the nose.
-The overall flavor spectrum is too restrictive and shy for flavor-seeking tastebuds.
-All in all, this is a well-crafted, boring recipe.

Bottle; no date.

Huge raspberry aroma, dark pink/auburn, with a small pink head. Taste is the essence of raspbery, sweet and syrupy. Pretty good. Thank You Very Much Andrew!

Aroma is a sweet raspberry (as expected). Pours with a slightly pink tinge. Flavour is undeniably raspberry, but the tartness of the raspberry mixes a bit confusingly with the bitterness of the beer. Overall, not a bad summer beer, but for a fruit beer, would prefer a more champagne-like feel and taste like Mort Subite.

Dark Pinkish-tinted pour. Smells good, sweet/sour raspberry aroma, Smells of hops as well. Little/no head. Sour fruit taste, carbonated finish, watery thinner than preferred mouthfeel. Not a very good framboise, but still acceptable.

Bottle (latest release). Brown pour with some reddish reflections. Aroma is almsot all raspberry, with a little something grassy/herbal too. Taste is quite sweet, raspberry jam but with a dry herbal finish. The dry palate keeps it from being cloyingly sweet. Decent fruit beer, I was pleasantly surprised.

Pours copper with shades of ruby. Forms a white-ish head, surprisingly creamy, an rather thick. A really pretty beer. Aroma is, well, raspberry and malt. Some caramel added to the taste. Slightly bitter. Good beer. Authentic beer. But rather simple.

I guess I can’t really say that it smells and teastes like raspberries...! I do need to specify that there is a good malt character to it, maybe a little nutty? Pours red as in not pale-reddish but red. Not my type but fun summer beer.

Bottle 341ml. Pours reddish with low pinky head. Aroma is of raspberries. Taste is of raspberries. Sligth acidity and bitterness. Balance not too shabby. A fair fruit beer.
