COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
St-Ambroise Pale Ale is the brewery’s flagship beer. Introduced in February 1989, it is a hoppy, amber, full-flavoured ale. In The Simon and Schuster Pocket Guide To Beer , beer critic Michael Jackson gave it three stars and described it as: "An outstanding ale... amber-red, clean and appetizing, with a very good hop character, from its bouquet to its long finish. Hoppy, fruity, and tasty all the way through."

0.341 l bottle thanks to Cristobal37. Aroma of caramel, bread, juniper and some metal. Taste of bread, pears, citruses and some toast. Quite light, but not bad.

12 oz bottle (probably past its prime) pours a clear amber color with tight off-white head that leaves some lacing. Aroma is full of honey and biscuits, with some toffee and perhaps some peach. Taste is sweet with some bitterness finally coming out in the finish. This is one of the maltiest pale ales I’ve tried. Body is medium with soft carbonation and an oily mouthfeel. Not at all what I was expecting, but a pleasant surprise anyway.

fhoublon (461) - Lachine, Quebec, CANADA - APR 21, 2016

Bottle 33cl. Poured into a lager glass. Clear medium amber, a lot of tiny bubbles, tall frothy beige head, good retention and lacing; aroma malty, toasted, caramel, biscuit, bread; taste medium sweet and bitter, malty, toffee, toasted, average to long duration, toasted bittersweet finish, medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation; solid pale ale.

Pours a pale amber colour with a nice thick creamy head. Nice lacing. Good balance of hops and malts in aroma. Flavours are pretty much the same as aromas, with a bit of grainy taste and thick maltiness. Sort of spicy mouthfeel and some tingling on the palate. Not bad, nothing outstanding for a pale.

Zlotta (3196) - Hagen / Bonn, GERMANY - MAR 29, 2016
0.341 l bottle from ’Saveur Bière’, bottled in September 2015. Clear, golden amber with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, tan to white head. Sweetish, slightly fruity aroma of honey, strawberry jam, toffee and some peach. Sweetish, rather malty and slightly fruity tase of honey, toffee, marmelade and some peach, followed by a short, slightly bitter finish. Medium body, slightly oily mouthfeel, average carbonation. Decent, easily drinkable stuff.

Bierdimpfe (640) - Quebec, CANADA - MAR 24, 2016
Clear amber color with powerful delicate activity. Creamy white sparkly 1.5 finger head lasting around 10 minutes with strong legs. Aromas and flavors of grains, fruits, citrus, caramel, floral and herbal spices. Nice floral nose and delicious taste of sweet orange, lemon, apple and a fresh grain feel. Also slightly woody and grassy. Creamy full body with moderate carbonation. Strong and long finish ending with a slightly fruity but highly spicy bitter chalky and dry mouth coat. Overall a very good craft; complex and delicious crispy flavors with good freshness while having a little too much aggressive bitterness for my taste with tongue numbing spicy hops.

erickok (6037) - Leuven, BELGIUM - MAR 23, 2016
Golden malts, giving a biscuit malt base aroma, and taste. Hops are English and perhaps some resin. Balanced recipe and enjoyable, and despite not being extreme at all and flavourful, it’s not one typical style that it reminds me of. English Pale Ale perhaps. Nice bitterness and good drinkable body. Very nice to drink, quality brew. (Bottle from Saveur Bière)
