COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
St-Ambroise Pale Ale is the brewery’s flagship beer. Introduced in February 1989, it is a hoppy, amber, full-flavoured ale. In The Simon and Schuster Pocket Guide To Beer , beer critic Michael Jackson gave it three stars and described it as: "An outstanding ale... amber-red, clean and appetizing, with a very good hop character, from its bouquet to its long finish. Hoppy, fruity, and tasty all the way through."

Aroma is of malts and some faint hops. Flavour of herbal hops, malts. Pretty well balanced pale ale.

UXO (1922) - CANADA - AUG 26, 2014
Pours clear medium amber with two fingers of frothy off white head, decent retention and heavy lacing. Nose is herbal hops, roasted malt. Taste is caramel malt leading light grassy hops. Light to medium body, moderate sustained carbonation, and a sustained balanced bitter finish. A decently sessionable malt-forward APA with not much to distinguish it one way or another. Pleasant and easy-drinking, but without too much character.

I don’t drink these very often, and it’s certainly not the most interesting beer in their line, but it’s pretty solid for a plain old pale ale. Nose is pretty much all malt: light grain, caramel, a bit of roasted grain and nuts. There’s a faint ambiguous dryness on the nose, but no real hop character that I could discern. Taste starts out mostly light grain/bread, but there’s a a lovely roasted flavour, especially as it warms up. Finish has just a hint of dryness; more crisp than dry. Quaffable.

On tap at the brewery terrace as part of a 12$ tasting set. A clear copper with a filmy beige head. Bready grainy malt aroma, it also gained some caramel notes when it warmed up. Medium bodied with a round carbonation. Decent malty flavor with a crisp mildly bitter finish. Pretty good, their beers seem very malt forward and quite English. Ok.

Biere orangée, col inexistant, presque pas d'effervescence odeur de malt, goût assez tranquille, assez malte, un peu métallique, pas mauvais mais pas super. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A watery over carbonated beer. Aroma is dull and slightly metallic. Having said that the taste is surprising fresh light bitter light sour. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

473 ml can from the LCBO. Canned two months ago. Pours clear dark amber colour with nice frothy off white head. Smells of herbal hops, some roasted malt notes, grainy/grassy. malt. Taste is toffee/caramel malt, Euro hops, balanced bitterness, some fruity sweetness mixed in there. Enjoyable lasting finish. Tasty and sessionable. Very nice English style pale ale. High flavour to abv ratio.

Pours a lighter orange with medium head. Aroma is quite hoppy and fruity. Taste is light in carbonation, a hoppier body and malty aftertaste, but generally quite light. A very balanced summer ale.
