cask, special
This one off special brew was brewed, bottled and labelled by hand in a limited run of only 693 bottles, as always, at one time by one bloke. Only the best malt and the finest whole hops are used; no tins of extracts or flavourings, just natural goodness. This beer, like all St Andrews Brewing Co beers, is brewed with passion to be drunk with passion. Enjoy, Bob. Taking inspiration from one of my favourite songs to brew to, and my baby girls Islas favourite song to dance to (Toots And The Maytals 54-46 Thats My Number), the 54-46 Series is a range of limited edition guest beers brewed with 54% Pale Malt and and 46% Wheat. Each beer is single-hopped to allow the full flavours of the hop to shine through. Citra: American high alpha hop with fresh tropical fruit and lime flavours.

Light thin slightly hazy yellow appearance. Reasonably white dospy hard. Unusual element of straight zingy .BO right in the middle palate which tends to dominate. OK I guess.

Pours cloudy with almost no head. Aroma is light caramel with just a hint of tropical fruit. Flavour adds a really nice late citrus note and a lingering bitterness

Keg at the bat. Pours a pale, cloudy yellow with a thin head. Aromas are grapefruit and lemon, very faint banana. Could do with more carbonation for me. Hops dominate the wheat-beer characteristics. Refreshing though.

Hazy yellow amber, reasonable head. Resin wheat aroma. Sweet boiled sweet wheat flavour. Smooth with sweet aftertaste. I like this.

Aroma: Turkish delight, wheat and grapefruit.

Appearance: Murky amber body with a thin white head that quickly fades to nothing. No lacing.

Taste: Sawdust, biscuit and chalk. Quite sweet with a faint lime note.

Palate: Thin to medium body with a watery texture, Soft carbonation.

Overall: The high wheat content dampens the brightness of the Citra hop.
