Bottle picked up at Lidl’s. It pours pretty much black with a decent light tan head. The aroma is bitter - sweet, roasted malt, chocolate cake, coffee grounds, mocha and dried fruits. The taste is dry, earthy roast, toasty, wood, pencil shavings, chewy action, leather, cocoa, fruit cake and a touch of spice with a drying finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Taste doesn’t quite live up to the aroma. Pretty OK. flying_pig (1701) - SCOTLAND - DEC 15, 2017

Quite a standard porter, this one was definitely a bitter offering that opened with some milky notes & sweetness on the nose but turned to a much more earthy, roasted tasting beer when it came to actually drinking the beer. There was some grains & it seemed relatively sharp despite the soft carbonation but I was looking for something a little more if I'm honest.
Tasted this at the Milngavie Beer Festival on the 2 September 2017. Keg dispense. Dull black in colour with a thin buff head. Malty aroma with notes of sweet molasses and milky coffee. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel and poor lacing. Dark malts give moist maltloaf base with treacle toffee, sweet coffee crème and dark chocolate. Slight prickle of earthy hops coming through in the brief bitter aftertaste. Finish is malty with drier notes of bournville chocolate, black coffee and molasses. An excellent porter and highly recommended. ianwelby (1616) - SCOTLAND - AUG 26, 2017
Black beer, brown bubbly head. Chocolate and malt in the aroma. Taste is the same. Chocolate, malt, coffee. It’s exactly what you’d expect but a great example of the style.
