Cask. Fast klare orange goldene Farbe, mittelgroße weiße schaumkrone. Geruch mild hopfig, zitronig, leicht nussig. Geschmack trocken hopfig, getreidig malzig, helles malz, uninteressant.

Cask at The Globe, Nicholson’s, London. Pours clear gold with a small, fluffy white head. Basic golden ale here. Plenty of dry straw, bits of dough and citrus. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly sweet to finish, a bit of zesty lemon, straw and biscuity malts in the finish. Very basic, refreshing beer. Nothing wrong here.

Cask (handpump) at Sir Christopher Hatton, Holborn on 4 September 2012. More amber than pale in appearance. Loose off-white head. Slightly clammy, soft malt on the nose. Quite earthy on the palate. A touch buttery in aroma and flavour. I was expecting something a bit zesty and golden but it had as much of a traditional bitter feel. Acceptable, but both St Austell and Nicholson’s can do better than this. Maybe not in the greatest nick so flagged for re-rate.

Theydon_Bois (20632) - Hazlemere, the lower Xhitlerns, Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - OCT 30, 2012
Cask at the Oakford Social Club, Reading - 26/10/12. Clear golden with a thin white head. Subdued nose carrying a little malt and biscuit, light caramel. Taste follows with a bit more life, touch of citrus, bread, biscuit, hops. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation leading to a bitter finish. Drinkable but on the boring side.
