4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
750ml brown bottle, corked, stored in can. Reddish brown coloured beer with a light creamy whitish cap. Nose is sweet and malty, yeasty banana notes. Flavour has some chocolate malts, some malt chewiness, sweet raisin fruitiness, yeast/estery. Finishes with light hops and yeast, dry. Some leafy aftertastes. Full bodied, carbonation is strong but natural feeling. Alcohol is well integrated, this never feels like an 11% beer, very drinkable.
Bottle from my cellar.
Brilliantly clear dark garnet body with a minimal off-white head.
Aroma of dark dried fruits and molasses.
The flavor follows the aroma pretty much. Moderately sweet with a good deal of alcohol warming. bytemesis (8569) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - SEP 10, 2016

Bottle shared by John, thanks! Pours a clear amber with visible carbonation with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a decent amount of fruit, Belgian yeast and some sweet grains with a bit of caramel. Flavor combines caramel and sweet grain with a bit of Belgian yeast and light fruit supporting. Bottle shared by John - thanks! Man, one of the beers on my very short list of have to haves. This is awesome. Plays like regular Abt 12, plus a little mint on the nose. 10 years and it’s aged remarkably well. What a privilege to try! Thanks John!

Muddy Sedona red with a tightly packed cream head that left a spattering of sudsy, soapy lacing. Loads of plum, brown sugar, flaky pie crust and honey-baked biscuit. Invisible ABV makes this dangerously drinkable! Yum! DiarmaidBHK (5078) - Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 29, 2015
corked and caged bottle. Another oldie but goodie pulled from the back of my fridge. took forever to get the cork off. pours brown with an inch of khaki foam. I’m surprised how long the head is staying around for. lots of lacing in the glass. more malty than anything on the nose. very smooth on the tongue. Hides it’s 11% very well. I can’t say there’s a lot of rich and robust flavor going on but it’s still very drinkable which makes it very dangerous. another solid beer from St. Bernardus.
