COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The St. Bernardus Abt 12 is the pride of our stable, the nec plus ultra of our brewery. Abbey ale brewed in the classic ’Quadrupel’ style of Belgium’s best Abbey Ales. Dark with a full, ivory-colored head. It has a fruity aroma, full of complex flavours and excels because of its long bittersweet finish with a hoppy bite. Worldwide seen as one of the best beers in the world. It’s a very balanced beer, with a full-bodied taste and a perfect equilibrium between malty, bitter, and sweet. One of the original recipes from the days of license-brewing for the Trappist monks of Westvleteren.

UPDATED: APR 9, 2018 Bomber. Chestnut brown with a khaki head. Aroma is clove, coriander, other spices, overripe bandana, and molasses. Tastes of raisin, prune, bandana, apricots, coriander, yeast, and a slightly bitter dry finish. Complex but clean finishing and smooth.

Bomber bottle poured into a st. Bernardus glass. The aroma is sweet and fruity with apple notes. It has a nice light tan head with lots of carbonation. Taste is upfront sweet and malty with fruity notes and plenty of carbonation that finishes very clean. Overall one of my favorite sipping beers. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Apparently uses the same recipe as Westvleteren 12, but brewed with water from a spring, instead of tapwater. Very nice balanced dark beer, a little low in CO2 to my taste, has very thin head which disappears quickly, but tastes very well.

Very dark brown, small head. Aroma, malty, fruity, some caramel, alcohol. Flavor yeast, alcohol, burnt sugar, very sweet. Good but not as good as Rochefort 10.
