COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The St. Bernardus Abt 12 is the pride of our stable, the nec plus ultra of our brewery. Abbey ale brewed in the classic Quadrupel style of Belgiums best Abbey Ales. Dark with a full, ivory-colored head. It has a fruity aroma, full of complex flavours and excels because of its long bittersweet finish with a hoppy bite. Worldwide seen as one of the best beers in the world. Its a very balanced beer, with a full-bodied taste and a perfect equilibrium between malty, bitter, and sweet. One of the original recipes from the days of license-brewing for the Trappist monks of Westvleteren.

2009 Vintage: Deep rich dark tree fruit flavor, smooth mouth feel with delicate carbonation. Delicious. 2011 Vintage: Sharp carbonation with more watery mouth feel. Not as sweet. Fruit not as. Complex. (750ml Bottle / France 44 / 03/2012)

a bottle from lApero, drunk at home. Aroma: malty, grassy, smells very fresh. Appearance: hazy, dark chocolate brown, 2-3 mm. tan head. Palate: full-bodied and thick, average carbonation. Long, very complex and well-balanced finish. Taste: caramel, coffee, vanilla, the alcohol is not at all intrusive. This is delicious, a superior beverage.

Jedna buteleczka dziś, a drugą zostawiam do testu porwnawczego z Westvleteren 12 - kiedyś tam.

A grumsy red brown ale with small white head. The aroma is a bit fruity with a medium carbonation and a bitter Taste of alkohol and malt.

Not a bad beer beer at all, but anyone who gives this top marks really has not tasted good Belgian beer, not a patch on Westvletteten 12 which it often gets compared to for whatever reason, a good all round dark beer, but not at all remarkable 7.5 out of 10 at the very most, worth a try but keep your expectations low

Pours with a decent foam, color is that of dark brown mead. The complex aroma is inviting and fruity, reminiscent of mead again. Aroma has raisins and apple juice as dominant aromas, but additionally one can find coconut and strawberry for example. Palate is perfectly balanced (like a perfect palate would be), very pleasant. Taste is sweet and very rich with slight bitterness being mixed with the sweetness and has raisins, plum juice, faint burnt notes and some alcohol. A very interesting balance between very rich taste, but still not overwhelming to not be refreshing as well. An excellent beer in this genre and would deserve the place as the worlds best beer instead of Westvleteren 12.
