UPDATED: FEB 21, 2018 Dark brown colour with a large head.
Aroma: malt, some wheat, banana, fruits, caramel, plums.
Taste: malt, caramel, banana, raisin, plums, some alcohol. NORSAND (129) - Lillestrøm, NORWAY - FEB 20, 2018
10.0% ABV. Best before date: May 2021. Supposedly the best before date is set 4 years after the brewing date, which means that this was brewed in May 2017.
APPEARANCE: Medium to deep brown to amber.
NOSE: Sweet, dark malt, butter caramel, a little yeast, hint of wood smoke.
TASTE: The arrival is malty and just off-dry, with quite rich carbonation. The mid palate is quite nicely balanced, with the addition of both some acidity and some bitterness to the slight malt sweetness. The exit transitions from almost semi-sweet into a slightly bitter but viscous aftertaste with hints of butter, then again transforming, for a few seconds only, into a very rich, complex, higher entity where butter, caramel, malt, hops, yeast, hay and fresh grass merge seamlessly. And suddenlythe divinity is gone again and we’re left with a quite ordinary, malty aftertaste.
OVERALL: A mainly malt driven but nicely balanced dark ale, which at its best is absolutely delicious, if only for a couple of seconds.... This beer benefits from, no, actually requires some airing / time in the glass. I feel that it will benefit greatly from more cellaring.

Deze is inderdaad vergelijkbaar met Westvleteren 12, alleen dan een stuk makkelijker te krijgen. Westvleteren misschien net iets lekkerder... cruik (51) - - FEB 19, 2018
Muddy brown beer with a creamy off-white head. Smell is belgian yeast, dried fruits, cherries, and caramel. Taste is malt-forward with a rich and earthy chocolate taste that's nicely balanced by the pleasant bitterness. It's mildly tart. Somewhat doughy. Surprisingly medium-bodied despite the abundance of flavor. The ABV is extremely well-covered. jase3812 (94) - AUSTRALIA - FEB 16, 2018
Made from the same recipe as the Westvleteren 12 and not surprisingly, tastes the same. A little less sweetness but a little more carbonated than the Westie (yeah I’m nicknaming it). I can’t say I got the same warming sensation as the Westie but it still has a rich flavour that suits a strong ale. As a cheaper alternative it works but I’m leaning towards the original Westvleteren.

Thuis uit een flesje, donkerbruine kleur, aardig schuim. Heerlijk zacht en zoet bier, je proeft de abv van 10% absoluut niet. Bijna perfect, iets minder kandijsmaak (thanks Huub) zou mogen. Maar: heerlijk dus. axl (1120) - Lund, SWEDEN - FEB 6, 2018
330ml bottle. Dark amber-brown with tall white head. Aroma is sweet malty with candi sugar, caramel, dried fruits, nutty malts and light almond. Taste is sweet dark malty with dried fruits, candi sugar, nuts, almonds/marsipan and caramel. Medium mouthfeel, light carbonation and sweetish, malty aftertaste.
