COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The St. Bernardus Abt 12 is the pride of our stable, the nec plus ultra of our brewery. Abbey ale brewed in the classic ’Quadrupel’ style of Belgium’s best Abbey Ales. Dark with a full, ivory-colored head. It has a fruity aroma, full of complex flavours and excels because of its long bittersweet finish with a hoppy bite. Worldwide seen as one of the best beers in the world. It’s a very balanced beer, with a full-bodied taste and a perfect equilibrium between malty, bitter, and sweet. One of the original recipes from the days of license-brewing for the Trappist monks of Westvleteren.

Very bold aroma...pours very dark with a light brown head that lasts. Flavor consists of malts, maple syrup, and yeast. Alcohol is present but does not dominate. Thick and rich on the way down with a surprisingly light and sweet aftertaste.

Great price at Lcbo for size of bottle (750ml)! Pours a foamy average size, off-white head. Has a cloudy amber appearance, slightly murky. Weak lacing. Aromas of Belgian yeast, nutty malts and plums. Flavours of sweet, nutty malts, raisins and plums. Notes of caramel malts, earthy and resin hops. Also some hints of toffee. Average carbonation, full bodied mouthfeel. Sort of a fizzy, prickly sensation. Goes down extremely well. Good balance of malts and hops. Very good!

Very tasty ale with a sweet fruity taste and smooth finish. Quite pleasing to the palate, but not a very strong aroma. Was difficult to distinguish any distinct flavors in the smell.

Bottle. A very rich trappist beer. Not a lot of aroma but the taste is quite powerful. Not too yeasty to my taste.

The bitters got me. Not my thing. There is some balance but this beer is not great. Malty, yes but the spices save this one grime being terrible.

Draft at Which Craft Brew. Aroma of stone fruits, sugars, and some hops. Very good.

25.4 oz. bottle. Pours a deep ruby red color with a finger-thick off white, fluffy cap of foam. Nice aroma of dried fruit, a strong malt backbone and just a little yeast. Medium-full body. Flavor mimics the aroma with the dried fruit. A little sweetness comes through too along with some yeast. Finish is sweet too and just a touch dry. Excellent!!!

jako dobra, mada bolje da sam je probao zimi nego na 40 stupnjeva na plaži i to u čaši za colu. zato me vjerojatno nije i više oduševila.

330ml bottle. Big murky brown pour with a big fluffy head. Wood, leather, cherry, raisins, sweet sherry, caramel, chocolate, orange zest, dried apricot. Body is good. Very nice. Really improves as it warms.

2011-01-27 Bouteille 750 ml. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
