Bottle. Interesting. Tastes better than it smells. Lingering aftertaste. Decent booze hit with Christmas fruits. The carbonation makes it less than smooth. It's ok. higgsbison (257) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - SEP 20, 2017
November 2016. I am writing this the day after. I quite enjoyed it, quad like. Strong notes of fig. Prominent Belgium yeast. Effervescent.
I have had this a number of times since. Probably my favorite quad after Rochefort 10

Aus der Flasche getrunken (Händlerlieferung). Tiefes Braun mit viel Schaum im Glas. Im Antrunk nicht doll, das Weihnachtliche kommt spät. Wo bleibt der viele Alkohol? PhillyCraft (7602) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 6, 2017
Backlog. Many draft and bottles over the years. Color is brown with some red hues mixed in. Nose is rich cherry, raisins, fig, candy sugar, christmas tree, pine, and oak. Flavor most of the same with tons of complexities and rich belgian yeast/fruit notes. Warming but not boozy. One of the best Christmas beers. Lager43 (51) - Watertown, Connecticut, USA - JUL 17, 2017
Superb Christmas Ale. Be sure to serve at about 50 F. Very full effervescent taste.

So maybe I should not be sampling Christmas Ale the first really hot weekend of the summer. But it is St. Bernardus, why not? Put away after a spring trip to eastern New Mexico, saved until now. The 750 ml bottle gives an amber-brown body and a healthy beige head. An inviting nose, I detect yeasty bread and tropical fruit, maybe a little floral. I taste to get currants, figs, some hard candy sweetness. It finishes dry in the mouth, very little bitterness. Glad I got a try at this. Other Belgians deliver more. dark dried fruits and caramel with good alcohol. luscious and deep with a morphing finish as it is complex. surprisingly mellowing as is expected by the style but not anticipated in the taste. good winter spice. dorain (484) - Berlin, GERMANY - JUN 3, 2017
Lecker! Originally rated on 12/27/2008. Nice christmas beer here, it poured a deep brown almost black body with a light thin cap that left some good lace. Aroma and flavors of plum, raisins, bready malts, clove, spices, and some floral notes. Overall a pretty good brew thats worth a try.
