Good, but shortlived yellow head over dark-mahogany beer. Nuts, peanuts, alcohol & fusels, and some caramel-like sweetness, but fading out. Sweet taste, with a hint at sourish fruitiness. Dark malts, dark - nearly outfermented - candi sugar, and some fatty acids in the finish. Very full-bodied, alcohol in the retronasal build-up. Basically quite good, but not overwhelming beer. St. Bernard is a brewery that, IMO, does it regular beers better than its specials.

Bottle: I feel honored off the bat as the first none person from Denmark to rate this thanks to Kerstbierfestival! It pored a hazy dark brown with a creamy off white head, The aroma was fruity and complex spice. It finished similar with fruit and a dry tangy spice/alcohol zip.

(Bottle 75 cl) Hazy, nutty brown with a tall, creamy, off-white head leaving a pretty lacework. Vinous, port-like aroma with notes of dried fruit. Quite a full and rich body with lightly sweet, dark malt accents. Touches of yeast and a lot of dried fruit. Never gets overly sweet. Quite a complex brew. 081206

Bottle. Very small and surprisingly low white head. Beer too cold maybe. Hazy dark brown body. Dry and spciy barley malt aroma (promising). Quite sweet actually, flavor interesting though with raisins, plums, caramel and maybe juniper berries. Alcohol percentage well hidden. Liquorice - sorry no, mates.

Bottle at Dæmningen 37 - shared with Karen, Henning & Mette. Dark brown - offwhite head. Yeast, raisins, licorice, hop, spicy, burning tongue feeling.

Christian (14040) - Odense, DENMARK - NOV 12, 2006
UPDATED: DEC 6, 2007 Raised numbers at 2007 re-rating. Muddy red brown with a big off-white head. Malt and yeast aroma with caramel and a hint of spice, cinnamon and vanilla. Complex spicy-fruity flavour, sweet but with a licorice-y dryness. Too fizzy for my taste, but if it’s designed for the Danish market, that might be a clever move. Less fizzy in 2007?

3.3
joergen (29789) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - NOV 4, 2006
UPDATED: DEC 11, 2014 Draught. Hazy orange brown coloured with an off white head. Aroma of fruits, spices and caramel. Flavour of fruits, spices and caramel. Fizzy palate.
