DocJitsu (2115) - Pensacola, Florida, USA - APR 21, 2018
UPDATED: APR 21, 2018 Dark brown pour with a short-lived beige-tan head. Brown sugar, fig, and spice on the nose. A bit lively for the style. Flavor profile is the same as the nose. Blended sweetness and tartness, with sweetness being dominant throughout.

Appearnace- Clear very deep ruby colour with thick off-white foam.

Aromas- Very sweet of plums, candy and sugar as well as sweet cherries, bananas and fruits, it really does smell like kriek in a way.

Palate- Full body with high carbonation leaving smooth lightly warming finish.

Taste- Sweet and smooth of fruits and berries such as plums, cherries, raspberries and many others, very pleasantly sweet and malty as well as caramel with this nice smooth lasting warmth with a touch of spice.

Overall- Wow! Did not expect Christmas beer to be this fruity, almost kriek like mixed with Belgian strong ale, really nice!

Bottle at home. Dark fruit, Cherry Coke, tart mash on the nose. Medium bodied, fruity, cookie spice, Belgiany esters, cinnamon, musty, cellared notes. ABV is well hidden. Great Christmas beer.

Un modèle de bière de Noël. Robe brun foncé, mousse persistante. Des saveurs de bonbons type chamalow et de cerise. Une acidité bienvenue. Pas trop exubérante pour une bière de ce type et parfaitement maîtrisée. Un régal !

Wygląd: Barwa ciemniejszego bursztynu, klarowna z niewysoką perlistą pianą drobnopęcherzykową, szybko opadającą i niepozostawiającą większych śladów na szkle. [firmowe szkło].

Aromat: Dominują estry w postaci dojrzałych bananów, brzoskwiń i moreli. W tle trochę fenolowych nut goździkowo - pieprzowych i perfumowość alkoholowo - chmielowa.

After gorzkawy. Alkohol dobrze ukryty, fajnie rozgrzewający. Ogólnie bardzo ciekawe, pijalne (10% alk.), aromatyczne piwo. Jedyny minus to piana i brak belgijskiej koronki.

Copenhagen 11/2 2018 (a little late for Christmas). 75 cl bottle from Ølhandleren in Hørning. The usual happy beer drinking monk on the label - this time with a Christmas cap of course. Small pins assuring me that the beer is produced by a Belgian family brewer and that Belgian hops are used. Very proud to be Belgians it seems. Pours hazy maroon with a red hue and very big off-white head. Settles as creamy 0,5 cm thick blanket of foam. Substantial lacing. Aroma is sweet and boozy with tart fruity notes. Dark lightly roasted malts, caramel, marzipan and light notes of acidic tart berries. Soft yet prickly carbonation and soft medium thick palate. Flavor has strong warm sweetness with a sugary quality. Followed by light tart bitterness. A very nice and sweet way to get a decent buzz. No wonder the monk looks so happy.

Caged and corked bottle 75cl. from cellar, since October 2013, opened with a good ''plop'', @home served in a trappist glass. Strong nose of sweet malts and xmas spices; opaque deep ruby brown, small quite loose beige head, mostly diminishing, light lacing; rich aroma, sweet roasted malts, candied dark fruits, molasses, brown sugar, caramel, licorice, cinnamon, cloves; mellow taste, light heavy sweet and slightly bitter, roasted malts, dark fruits, ahorn syrup, toffee, cinnamon, hint of anis; mild sweetbitter aftertaste, warming alcohol, spicy and nutty and syrup notes; full-bodied, oily to creamy texture, average carbonation; very good example of the style, round and rich, a festive beer for sure and a superior one!

750ml bottle. In the cellar since at least 2015, maybe 2014. Pours a hazy chestnut brown with large beige cap. On the nose, a light acidic lambic note, nuttiness, nutmeg, and vanilla cake. Medium bodied and sweet with dried fruit, light earthiness, faint dark bread, and a streak of minerality that opens up into brown sugar, dried fruits, light dark rye bread, faint spice, with some mineral bitterness in the finish. This is lovely stuff. I think I like it better than straight up St. Bernardus Abt 12.

Chapeau!
