3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
330ml bottle into a goblet.
Pours a slightly hazy dark brown due to the sediment that got into the glass with a half finger fluffy white head. Really good head retention and decent lacing.
Aroma is a little bit weak but I really can pick out brown sugar and vanilla. There is also a slightly musty odor but it is more complimentary than it is distracting.
The brown sugar is more muted in the flavor allowing the the banana/clove Belgian yeast character to shine through. More vanilla that is subdued but there is a noticeable lack of complexity compared to some other versions of the style. Mouthfeel is on the watery side with a little bit of stickyness left on the finish.
Overall, I am not very impressed by this Dubbel. It really lacks complexity and depth of flavor along with a weak mouthfeel. I feel like this could be a whole lot better with a little bit of work.
0.33 l bottle from Koht Õllepood, Tallinn, Estonia. Appearance is brown, cloudy and with a huge white head. Aroma has dark chocolate. Taste is sweet and dry with chocolate flavour. Well, this is the closest you can get to Westvleteren 6 since it is not being brewed any more. tlyx (101) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - JUL 10, 2017
Gräsig arom med en aning svart te. Metall, gräs med jordig avslutning. Ganska vattnig och intetsägande. tgrtnr (181) - Augsburg, GERMANY - JUL 8, 2017
330 ml bottle served in abbey glass. Dark brown with big creamy head. Raisins, rum, dried fruits, caramel, dark chocolate. Malty, sweet, metallic, slightly bitter. Nice alcoholic warmth. Medium body, soft carbonated. Nice Dubbel. wilde_joost59 (79) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - JUL 7, 2017
Uit fles. Prachtig schuim, mooi donker van kleur. Veel aroma. Meer een bier voor herfst of winter dat wel, maar vol van smaak. ha1ag (904) - Maastricht, NETHERLANDS - JUN 24, 2017
Bottled. A light version of the 8. Color is dark hazy brown with huge off-white head. Spicey nose. Aroma is dark fruit, sweet caramel. Flavour is same, no alcoholic stings of the 8. OK.

Classic lighter dubbel- caramel nutmeg rich malts, candi sugar, and a touch of banana Belgian yeast. Definitely a nice Belgian drinker. Keukeman (146) - BEST, NETHERLANDS - JUN 19, 2017
.33l bottle at home. Hazy brown beer, shallow aromas, hints of brown sugar and caramel. Taste is rather sweet. Strong malt flavour. Palate is thick, medium carbonation. Flaky yeast is present in the bottle, I poured some yeast along with the beer.. hehe.
Overall not too bad. Not that special of a beer. basjansen14 (387) - NETHERLANDS - JUN 11, 2017
Aroma: malty, candy sugar, and some dark fruits.
Taste: malty, candy sugar, dark fruits and some yeast notes.

Pretty much a lighter version of Prior 8. Hazy brown color with medium head. Aroma: dark fruits, candy sugar, nutmeg and barley. Taste: Plums, dates, raisins, toffee, Belgian yeast and spice. growler6 (170) - BELARUS - JUN 3, 2017
Dark semi-sweet chocolate, with banana, pear and doughy aromas. Not as much depth of flavor or aroma as I was expecting. Light and fizzy as it should be with a slightly salty aftertaste. Ok but just an average dubbel. Their Prior 8 is much better .
