Pours a dark (almost black) brown colour with a mid sized head. Big Islay Whisky aroma. Flavour is lots of salty liquorice, ash, smoke and char coal. Seems to get a lot of not-so-good ratings; can’t say that I understand why.
Nja. gyllenbock (9157) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - JAN 21, 2011
Dark brown with a small head that disappeared quickly. Ok aroma of whiskey, smoke, some licorice and light roasted malt. Taste of smoke, licorice, wood and some light roasted malt. Light body with an almost watery mouth feel, short aftertaste. Not an impressive Imperial Stout.

Bottle. Dark reddish brown with a small beige head. Aroma: dried fruit, some port, smoke and peat. Taste: peat, sea salt, chocolate, medium bitter, sweet, dried fruit, alcohol, perhaps some grapefruit, vinous. Medium-bodied with noticable carbonation. All-right, but I would have preferred it heavier. Mad_Ferret (1017) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - DEC 28, 2010
Bottle. Black, slightly hazy, red colour. Small tanned bubbly head that disappears quickly. Aroma is dark fruit, burnt sugar, liquorice, burnt malt and a sting of hops. Taste is sweet and burnt, liquorice, coffee, some chocolate and tar-pastille. Body is medium, light carbonation to none, some warming alcohol. A bit watery, a bit vinous. tkrjukoff (4335) - SWEDEN - DEC 28, 2010
Pours black with small dark brown head leaving some lace. Soapy, sour-tary, roasted malty, a bit odd aroma. Sweet smokey mouthfeel. Acidy tar, fruity, sweet, alcohol, medium body and whiskey flavor. Lean sweet tary palate. Finishes almost perry then short tart hoppy aftertaste. baggio (337) - norrtälje, SWEDEN - DEC 25, 2010
Apperance: Dark brown/red with a wee brown head.
Aroma: Tar, Wood, Roasted malts, Dark caramel.
Taste: Smoke, Wood, Roasted malts, Dark caramel, Hint of salt and some licorice.
Palate: Very thing liquid with low carbonation. Hides the alcohol well.
I can’t remember ever seeing a impy stout with a clear liquid. It is is quite drinkable but to call this an imperial stout is an insult to other _real_ impy stouts.
