Riktigt fin.

Bottled from Systembolaget dec-11 Amber with a bubbly head. Some hair-salon in the aroma. Mashy notes in the flavour. Medmium dry bitterness. Too alcoholic.

Sampled from bottle. Hazy reddish color, small beige head. Smell malts, sweetness, a bit of sugar. Taste malts, some sweetness, slightly alcohol, some fruits like pear and something else I just cant figure out what it is. Medium carbo, medium body.

Dark amber color; medium sized creamy head. Very mild malt and caramel aroma, maybe with a hint of vegetables. Medium body strength (good, but different from what expected from a Barley Wine, more like an English Strong Ale); the mouthfeel is soft and quite round; there is caramel flavor, malt, brown sugar, very moderate sweetness, a touch of vegetables, and a bitterness that is just a bit stronger than the average English beer. Simplistic.

UPDATED: NOV 21, 2012 2011 vintage. Same as last year. Beautiful deep copper, slightly hazy. Big foamy bone white head. Aroma is brown sugar, malt, caramel, port wine. Much better than last year. Taste is sweet, malty, vinious but theres too much alcohol in the taste and theres also something in there that reminds me about tobacco which i dont like.

Very sweet and mellow. Clear flavors of Christmas, quite spicy beer with a relatively high alcoholic strength. Best suited to rather severe food.

Kestral (506) - rnes, NORWAY - MAR 22, 2012
Bottle. Dark ruby brown with a small tan ring. Aroma of toffe, loads of toffee. Some plums, some nuttiness, quite a bit of hops in this one. A little alcohol. A little vinous, some bubblegum esteriness. Pretty damn solid. Loads of burnt sugar and caramel on the tongue, with a solid hop bite in the finish. Well balanced for a barley wine, and since its a lighter take on the style compared to the 10+% monsters, its actually quite drinkable. Medium bodied, not too heavy. All in all I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Crisp (lol wat), clean but perhaps it lacks a bit in the wow-department.
