COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This brown ale has a marked ruby brown colour with a generous and lasting head. It has a distinctive aroma reflecting the wide range of ingredients used in its production. The fruitiness resulting from its fermentation blends harmoniously with a dominant liquorice and caramel flavour. The body is decidedly malty. The bitterness is the result of a complex alchemy between the fine hops and special malts used. These give St Feuillien Brune a typical dark chocolate appearance.

UPDATED: JAN 29, 2017 Bottle from LCBO. Warm dark brown with red highlights, big fluffy tan head. Aromas of cherries, caramel, raisins, bit of oakiness and toast. Toasty cherries, vanilla, warming caramel and raisins, lingering sweet roastiness. Tasty.

Very dark brown beer with red highlights - warm colours. Big foamy head. Smell is warm and earthy, caramel and sourwood. Crisp and bitter with heavy sweetness. Nice. Taste is full and oily, nice caramel sweetness and elegant bitterness. Toffee and apples, hint of chocolate. Raisins. Hint of alcohol.

330 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours a murky chestnut brown with large light tan head. Aroma is dark fruit, toasted grains, caramel and a little licorice. Flavour has raisin, cherry, toast, toffee, brown sugar and a bit of licorice. Just a hint of alcohol heat. Fine carbonation. Impressive.

330ml bottle. Pours a slightly hazy ruby colour with a tan head. On the nose, dark breads, hard water, and dried fruits. Medium bodied with some lively carbonation, this beer is on the sweeter side of things with raisin, light dark cherry, brown sugar, some alcohol burn, light molasses, faint dark rye bread, and a very faint almost papaya-like note that heads into almost Scotch ale like notes. Toffee, dried fruits, fruit cake, darker malts, and some clove in the finish. Not a huge Dubbel fan, but I’m enjoying this one. Glad I bought two.

Pours dark brown with a lasting small off-white head. The aroma contains malts, yeast, dark fruits, caramel, licorice and chocolate. It tastes light to medium sweet and light sour. A tad metallic. Round flavour, medium body and fizzy carbonation. A good Abbey Dubbel.

Barwa ciemnobursztynowa. Po otwarciu butelki lekki gushing przez co piana wysoka ale niezbyt trwała, jasnobeżowej barwy. W aromacie głównie karmel. W smaku również sporo karmelu, słodowości i nieco suszonych owoców.

Smells a little sour, almost chemical. Pours a brown gold colour. Head disappears quick. Taste is that of an abbey ale, but a little sour. Good carbonation. Bit of a lingering sour taste. Overall I was glad to try, but wont go out of my way to try again. MB The Beer Bearòn

On tap at the Pour Taproom in Greenville, SC. Appearance: dark amber, clear body with a good beige head with fine lacing. Aroma: fruity and lightly spicy. Unusual. Flavor: also distinctive, although it departs from the aromatics. This lightly yeasty ale has a lot of toffee and brown sugar flavor but is only slightly sweet. Some vanilla notes, particularly in the aftertaste. Feel: medium-light body is fairly smooth with medium carbonation. Overall: distinctive.
