This beer has a generous head - compact and firm. Its slightly brown colour is the result of the roasted barley. It has a dark ruby brown colour and a very intense aroma. The aromatic herbs and spices used greatly enhance its delicious smell. This beer is full-bodied with a smoothness that is the result of the synergy of caramelized malts, carefully controlled fermentation and long cold storage. St Feuillien Cuvée de Noël has a very subtle bitterness that is the dominant flavour in this harmonious ale that strikes a perfect balance between all the different ingredients.

330 ml bottle,bb 06/08/2019.
Deep ruby with brown notes.
Nose - extreme liquorice (mistook it for soap for first ~10 minutes). After 15 minutes it's hard to say if there is anything else, liquorice drowns everything. After half hour aniseed and some spices emerges.
Taste - sweet as it should be,liquorice (heh),some dark fruit, caramel and aniseed.

Keg at Den Engel, Leek. A clear deep ruby colour with a thin off white head. Aroma of liquorice, dark fruits, orange peel, some red berries, slight bready malts, a little caramel and subtle spice. Taste of liquorice, dark fruits, red berries, some caramel, slight orange, a little star anise, a hint of alcohol and subtle spice. Medium bodied and moderate carbonation. A sweet, liquoricey fruit finish with a spicy bitterness in the aftertaste. As expected, a complex, Christmas Strong Ale. Lots of red fruits, spicy liquorice and a little star anise. Good but can tell it’s strong unlike certain competitors.

I drank it in bottle and on tap and have to say that and I have to say that in bottle it's a good beer but on tap it's excellent , red color full body, with equilibrated caramel herbs and spices very fresh despite its 9%

esp0r (2931) - NORWAY - NOV 18, 2017
