This beer has a generous head - compact and firm. Its slightly brown colour is the result of the roasted barley. It has a dark ruby brown colour and a very intense aroma. The aromatic herbs and spices used greatly enhance its delicious smell. This beer is full-bodied with a smoothness that is the result of the synergy of caramelized malts, carefully controlled fermentation and long cold storage. St Feuillien Cuvée de Noël has a very subtle bitterness that is the dominant flavour in this harmonious ale that strikes a perfect balance between all the different ingredients.

Huge rocky & creamy beige head stayed impeccably on a dark brown slightly active body. Malty, christmassy & dark spirit aroma. Smooth & creamy on the palate with a slight prickle on the back. Dry & cloying. Dark fruit, plum, demerara sugar, nutmeg, clove, cognac & an alcohol presence with a long Christmassy spicy back. Excellent, Recommended - Buy it

From the tap, at FOB, Rimini, Italy. Pours dark brown worth wonderful ruby reflections. Head is limited, and brownish. Aroma is predominantly licorice and alcoholic. Body is medium, worth lots of carbonation and some stickiness. Taste is sweet, very sweet. Finish, instead, is relatively short.

Clean ruby. Large head, medium-high retention. Aroma intensity 3.5/5. Spicy aroma, notes of metal, bay leaf, hay and malt. Good bitter-sweet balance. Medium body. Fizzy carbonation. Thin texture

The beer looks good, and pretty much like a good Christmas beer should. The beer is dark. The color of the brew is a beautiful ruby red/brown. The beer sure has some cloudiness. This is not weird, since it’s yeasted in the bottle. On top of the beer a thick rough layer of slightly brownish foam is formed, that collapses rather quickly, leaving a thin drape. The smell of the beer is nice. It’s a little bit familiar. I smell some nice sweet malts, a slight toasty bitterness, some bitter and fresh hops and delicious aroma’s of herbs and liquorice. The smell is very dark and warming, both sweet and bitter. I also smell some anise. The herbs give the smell a nice kick, making the smell more interesting. The taste of the beer also is good. It is quite bitter for a Belgian Strong Ale. The bitterness comes mainly from some of the herbs. I taste liquorice and anise. The bitterness is balanced by a nice malty sweetness. Bitters and sweets are in perfect harmony. The herbs give the taste a nice kick. The herbal kick is tasted long after the beer is finished. The bitter and slightly sweet aroma’s fulfil the long finish. It is like you have been eating sweet licorices. The beer has a nice full body with an average carbonation. The beer is good and perfectly suitable for the cold, dark winter evenings around Christmas.

Bottle at hopaholic. Deep copper, almost brown colour small white head. Nose is anise and karamom. Taste is medium sweetness, strong kardamom. A little bit too much for me. Nice otherwise.

Pours deep & dark with a lively but quickly diminishing head. Smells anise and spice with a tang of Roquefort? Hides the alcohol content well behind liquorice, cloves and anise. Tastes of raisins, dark fruit with Smokey caramel. A lovely Christmas beer example.

Bottle - Anise and spice. Clear Amber with a rich off white head. Tons of liquorice and a long finish.

LLaurin (483) - Motala, SWEDEN - DEC 9, 2016
Nose is light fruity and with some freshness. Pours dark red amber with rich head in of white. Taste is also fruity with yeast and light sour. Palate is rather short but sharp with even some bitterness.
