Pours brown with a reddish hue. Head was slightly off-white and creamy. Aromas of sweet malts, spices, and a small amount of yeast and cherry fruityness. Flavor is mostly malts and yeast, but there’s some sweetness there. Sjohnh (1012) - Coventry, West Midlands, ENGLAND - DEC 24, 2014
Dark reddy brown body with a frothy tan head - very lively at first. Aroma of malt, brown sugar and sherry trifle. Good body, though no more than medium. Flavours include cherry, mulled wine, sugar and darker malts. Good, bit too sweet maybe. vickey9 (1000) - Brussels, BELGIUM - DEC 14, 2012

Bottle 2012: Nose is cloves, some bead, touch of mint, slight over ripe grapes. Taste is sweet and ripe, cherry, strong aniseed, some soft fruits from the yeast leading to spice and a deep alcohol warmth and candy sugar.
Mouthfeel is full. This is a perfect example of a Christmas ale in taste and texture. Very nice. (Why am I drinking it in June though....) Rockinout (966) - Kent, Ohio, USA - OCT 4, 2003
Large head, golden brown. Spicy malty nose. Semi-sweet taste, alcohol, and I can't read my notes on the finish. strap (965) - Sindelfingen, GERMANY - DEC 22, 2015
Dark with a red tint. Quickly diminishing off white head. Sweet with a licorice aroma. Nice blend of Christmas spices in the taste. Well done
