COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer has a generous head - compact and firm. Its slightly brown colour is the result of the roasted barley. It has a dark ruby brown colour and a very intense aroma. The aromatic herbs and spices used greatly enhance its delicious smell. This beer is full-bodied with a smoothness that is the result of the synergy of caramelized malts, carefully controlled fermentation and long cold storage. St Feuillien Cuvée de Noël has a very subtle bitterness that is the dominant flavour in this harmonious ale that strikes a perfect balance between all the different ingredients.

The beer looks good, and pretty much like a good Christmas beer should. The beer is dark. The color of the brew is a beautiful ruby red/brown. The beer sure has some cloudiness. This is not weird, since it’s yeasted in the bottle. On top of the beer a thick rough layer of slightly brownish foam is formed, that collapses rather quickly, leaving a thin drape. The smell of the beer is nice. It’s a little bit familiar. I smell some nice sweet malts, a slight toasty bitterness, some bitter and fresh hops and delicious aroma’s of herbs and liquorice. The smell is very dark and warming, both sweet and bitter. I also smell some anise. The herbs give the smell a nice kick, making the smell more interesting. The taste of the beer also is good. It is quite bitter for a Belgian Strong Ale. The bitterness comes mainly from some of the herbs. I taste liquorice and anise. The bitterness is balanced by a nice malty sweetness. Bitters and sweets are in perfect harmony. The herbs give the taste a nice kick. The herbal kick is tasted long after the beer is finished. The bitter and slightly sweet aroma’s fulfil the long finish. It is like you have been eating sweet licorices. The beer has a nice full body with an average carbonation. The beer is good and perfectly suitable for the cold, dark winter evenings around Christmas.

Tap at Blind Tiger. Poured a rich and dense mahogany with a very thin white head. Nose is malty with Belgian yeast, with a slight sour hint and also a sweet note. There are some really nice dark fruit notes in this beer. Couple that with classic Belgian yeast and some spices and you have a delicious and really drinkable winter beer. To me, it’s more like a dubbel with some spice notes, but regardless of category it’s really a nice beer.

Tap at Broken Barrell---cloudy copper color with a large head. Aroma of yeast, candy and caramel. The taste started off with caramel, sweetness and some sugary fruits on the end. A little thinner than I had anticipated.

Dark with a red tint. Quickly diminishing off white head. Sweet with a licorice aroma. Nice blend of Christmas spices in the taste. Well done ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

BBE 26.06.2017. Tummanpunertavan ruskea väri, viipyvä ok vaahto. Sammutettu tuoksu vaahdon läpi, suutuntuma viipyvän vetinen, ei erityisen alkoholinen prosentteihin nähden, pientä pirteää hedelmäisyyttä, samettisen tunkkainen. Hyvä.

UPDATED: DEC 17, 2008 Draft at Toronado. Unexciting. Pours dark with a small head. However aromas and flavors are fairly ordinary. Some yeast and fruit and some spices but nothing spectacular. Mouthfeel a bit too thin, finishes with a certain malty sweetness.

Appearance is really beautiful, the color of dark ruby with a big, rocky head. Aroma has strong dark fruitiness, sweet maltiness and spiciness; plum, pear, some caramel. Taste is medium to heavy sweet; maltiness and fruitiness are rich with Belgian yeast adding spicy elements. Hoppiness is mild to moderate, balancing a bit. Dried fruitiness and spices feature most. Spiciness is moderate, not over-the-top. Palate is medium to full bodied, quite smooth despite the carbonation being a bit lively. Nice sweet and attractive Christmas beer.

mikkellund42 (797) - DENMARK - DEC 1, 2012
Bottle 75 cL. Pours dark brown copper with medium offwhite head. Aroma is cumin, caramel and green apples. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter. Body is light oily with medium carbonation. Finish is medium long and oily with notes of bitter grapefruit, slightly burnt sugar/caramel and unpleasantly wineous. Highly overrated beer.
