Grand Cru is a speciality beer carefully crafted by Belgium’s St Feuillien Brewery. This extra-blond amber nectar masterpiece undergoes refermentation in the bottle, resulting in a beer endowed with unforgettable character. The secret lies in the unique combination of the most noble hops and the finest aromatic ingredients. Grand Cru differs from other beers in the range by its absence of spices. Its full, white head is light and frothy, and when poured it creates a subtle lace effect. The very pale colour of Grand Cru lends clarity and brilliance to its body.
Grand Cru’s delicate nose is a veritable cascade of hoppy aromas with hints of fruitiness coupled with subtlety and sheer richness.
When savoured, the first sip is light and intriguing. The next impression is one of a slight bitterness full of captivating nuances. When it hits the palate, Grand Cru creates a lingering moment of hoppiness, rounded off by an intense yet pleasant bitterness.

Belle robe blonde, belle mousse.

Is it the association with wines that makes me detect some hints of cork? Don’t know, but the overall flavour is full of yeasty notes, sugars, subtle yet present hops, hints of banana and a wonderful warm mouthfeel that fades into a heavy alcoholic burning finish. It’s truely what they call it: a "bière de dégustation" - a connaisseurs choice! A wonderfully assembled taste combined with an persisting and inviting aroma. A great beer to sit down, enjoy and let the time pass!

GoufCustom (2000) - HONG KONG - JAN 2, 2015

330ml bottle bought at BeYUMMI’s booth at HKCEC in Wan Chai during The 12th Hong Kong Food Festival.

Looks: Cloudy hazy golden orange colour with thin trace of dirt like yeast sediments; Two finger head with crumpety white foams which lasts for 3 minutes; Excellent sticky lacing and quite fizzy small carbonation.

Aroma: Fragrant sweet rich malt, with strong vanilla, banana, caramel, cream cake, sugar, bubblegum, very light perfume, alcohol, bread, and strong Bel yeast.

Taste: Medium sweet malt, with moderate metallic, caramel, vanilla, overripe banana, warm alcohol, sugar, earth, strong Bel yeast, bitter lime, quite strong bitter hops and light grass.

Body: Full body; Thick and creamy palate.

Mouth Feel: Rich maltyness in good thick body. Metallic taste prevalent (through not nagging). Strong vanilla and cakes with bits of old banana. Booze is warming but not hard-hitting, sweetness is good for balancing the strong hops. Nice!

Hoppiness: Almost no nose. Earth, lime and light grass inn taste; Bitterness is quite strong with good liquorices feel for a lasting, strong sweet-bitter finish.

After Taste: Fairly dry after taste. Creamy and sweet-bitter to mouth.

Comments: Compare to its Triple, this is a step up in richer maltyness, neat vanilla cake aroma, creamy to the tongue, and nice sweet booze to compliment the strong hops. Taste may be a bit simple, but solid in almost all areas to deliver that comfy nice punch to the senses. A keeper!

Appearance with golden color, cloudy liquid and big head. Hoppy aroma. On the palate, it is very bitter, acid and fizzy. A very good Belgian Strong Ale!

From 0.75 bottle, use by 05/2016. Pale golden, a bit hazy. Nose bitter / hoppy, with an exotic edge of bananas and mango. Rather sweet when drunk. Nice but a bit forgettable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

blackisle (2580) - Amsterdam IJburg, NETHERLANDS - DEC 26, 2014
Bottle 33cl. Hazy pale to medium golden, good frothy white head, good retention and lacing; malty toasted aroma, yeast, grain, dried fruits, vanilla, honey, lemon grass; taste medium sweet and bitter, bit alcoholic, bit spicy; full body, creamy texture, average carbonation, aftertaste light bitter, spicy, fruity sweet touch at the end; overall a good strong ale, elegant but lacks real personality to make it extra special.

RickFifty (1254) - Fredrikstad, NORWAY - DEC 18, 2014
Hazy golden color, white frothy head. Belgian yeast nose, apple, fruity esters, citrus, hay, spice, banana. Fruity taste, sweet, dry finish, hints of alcohol and solvent, light spicy notes. Medium body, average carbonation.
