COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
St-Feuillien’s Saison is what the Belgians call a beer of the terroir, a traditional farmhouse ale with all the rich savour of the fertile land of southern Belgium. Saison, a warm golden blonde beer, is a top-fermented classique. Thanks to secondary fermentation in the bottle, Saison has an unmistakable flavour full of rich nuances and a slight tang.Judge for yourself. 750s and 20L kegs only. In first instance, for export to the USA only.

75cl. The beer starts fresh and floral. Funky with malty bitterness. Sessionable with a fresh floral back, light in body with a nice dry grainy aftertaste. Funk is there, very dry in body, round and sessionble.

Bottle. Aroma has herbs, dough, banana, so the hops and the yeast have beaten the malt into submission. My glass was a clear if fizzy golden colour and had briefly possessed a bubbly foam top that sped back to the farm. I await a rich nuance as promised by their marketing people. But as it stands, it is good, without being great. The taste is light sweetness, lightly bitter, lightly sour, and maybe even a hint of umami somewhere. So I will take that as nuance. The palate is medium body, slick feel, average carbonation, and all important long finish, that is like white noise in the immersion tank. If this is what you look for in a saison, then seize it.

UPDATED: DEC 24, 2017 Mousse abondante. S'estompe doucement. Nez sur les agrumes, l'abricot, les céréales. Bouche bien équilibrée avec, pour moi, des saveurs d'abricots confits qui se détachent avec bonheur. Amertume bien équilibrée. Bilan très agréable.

Pours a hazy golden colour with thick white head and a high level of carbonation. Aromas are a combination of spice, fruit, bread, hops and some hay....very complex. Taste is rich and complex with fruity malt sweetnesss, spice, hop bitterness, a bready malt character with quite a long dry tart finish. Really interesting beer, great to try something different.
