St. George American Brown Ale is the typical American take on a classic English style. This beer exhibits an assertive American hop character overlying a malty richness which lends it a slightly sweet, toasty flavor and aroma. Dark brown in color with a thick tan head our American Brown Ale is a brewed from a full malt base and is well balanced by a spicy/citrusy hop bitterness.

Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a brown color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute. Light lacing remained speckling around the sides of the glass. The smell was rich and roasty through a nice nutty caramel blend. Light cocoa in the background. The taste was enthusiastically sweet nutty and had a nice caramel to cocoa blend underneath. On the palate, it sat about a light to medium on the body with a pretty good sessionability about it. The carbonation was pretty smooth. There was a nice creamy richness coating my tongue. Overall, this was a really nice brown ale that I would have again.

Bottle. Pours dark amber with a nice pillow of head that fades slowly to a white halo. Slightly sweet aroma with only a hint of nuttiness. The taste is surprisingly complex with a bit of hoppy bite up front that gives way to a light toasted nut flavor. Very smooth and drinkable.

Bottle pour into shaker. Typical nut brown color for a brown ale. The taste was not as typical with a nice hoppiness added to the nuttiness. A decent beer.

Bottle. Pours a clear dark brown with a medium tan/light brown head that dissipates quickly with lacing. Aroma is chocolate and a nutty/smoky note. The taste is smokey; much like a porter in body and flavor, with strong nutty malts and a bit of hop bitterness. All in all a good brown ale.

Pours an almost opaque brown with a medium light tan head that lowers down but persists. Little lacing. Sweet caramel and toasted malt aromas balanced by a moderately bitter grass and resinous hops. Hint of raisins and tobacco in the finish. Moderate carbonation, medium body. Bitter finish. Not what I would expect in a classic brown ale, but good nonetheless.

Got this is a trade with ksurkin. Thanks again. Smell malty and wet cloth like. Pours a honey gold brown. Nice white head. Tight. Definite hop bite on the front and ending of the brew. Malty sweetness in the middle gives me great pleasure. nice cabonation. Solid beer. I think I enjoy a little more malty brown ales than this more American version but still great.

The last bottle I picked up from the brewery and the second of two brown variants. This version was more complex, had a thicker mouthfeel and more roasted notes. Finishes with coffee and baking chocolate. Nice.

Deep brown pour with a thin brown head. Chocolate, molasses, toasted malts, milk aroma. Medium, smooth body. Chocolate flavor with toasted malt, molasses, biscuit, and a lightly herbal, fruity hop finish. Light bitterness. Very nice, full fledged brown.

12oz bottle. Pours a deep chestnut brown with a nice half inch off white head that slowly settled. Aroma is dark, roasty malts, toasted nuts, caramel, and cocoa with a hint of piny hops. Flavor is well balanced between roasty, caramel malt, chocolate, and a pleasantly bitter bite of pine and floral hops through the finnish. Body is medium, with a slick, creamy texture and fizzy mouthfeel from the high carbonation.
