Solid mahogony color with a big ol’ creamy head, so casually wasted down the drain by the ditzy bartender at an otherwise good beer bar in Hampton VA. This was nutty and woody, smooth, with a bitter edge. Classic brown ale. hurleymanvw (101) - Raleigh, North Carolina, USA - DEC 13, 2004
Dark brown in appearance. Very good aroma. Kinda nutty in tast with a strong malt and chocolate taste. Finished great a very nice drinking beer. TheBeerGod (6209) - Newport News, Virginia, USA - OCT 12, 2004
Had this at St. George Brewing in their sampling room. Nice dark brown body. Nose was great! Cocoa, strong nuttiness, rich malts and faint hops. Taste was just as good as the aroma. More nuttiness with a dark chocolate hint and a strong malt backbone. Body was full and almost creamy in parts. Finishes with light hops, more malt, and light nuttiness. Good stuff! crzybob77 (530) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - MAY 30, 2004
Had it on draft. Only got two sips of this. From what I drank, it is good and enjoyable, but not much better than your average brown ale. Has a pretty nice rich taste. Kinz (3786) - Glen Allen, Virginia, USA - MAY 16, 2004
Draft. Virtually no aroma detectable. Medium brown, OK head. Slight vegetal hop bitterness, medium to thinnish malt body without distinctive flavor. Not the best beer.
