Bottle: By far the better of the trail pack so far. Poured a dark brown with a thin off white head. Aroma is enough chocolate to cover the alcohol. Taste is really smooth with a slight bitter choclate aftertaste. Airlifter (134) - Shawnee, Kansas, USA - FEB 17, 2008
Pours a watery dark brown with big bubbles. Looks just like a cola in the glass. Nice malty, earthy aroma. Good flavor. Lots of chocolate, coffee, and some sweetness. A hint of fruit...prunes?! Thin mouthfeel for a beer this dark, but overall a good brew. Capa (3295) - Kitsap, Washington, USA - MAY 15, 2011
Deep brown pour with a thin brown head. Chocolate, molasses, toasted malts, milk aroma. Medium, smooth body. Chocolate flavor with toasted malt, molasses, biscuit, and a lightly herbal, fruity hop finish. Light bitterness. Very nice, full fledged brown. jlanning215 (363) - Peoria, Illinois, USA - NOV 13, 2011
Got this is a trade with ksurkin. Thanks again. Smell malty and wet cloth like. Pours a honey gold brown. Nice white head. Tight. Definite hop bite on the front and ending of the brew. Malty sweetness in the middle gives me great pleasure. nice cabonation. Solid beer. I think I enjoy a little more malty brown ales than this more American version but still great. Chestnut brown, with a nice head. Nice aroma of walnuts and black pepper, with a touch of molasses thrown in. Same elements in the flavor, too - plus a note of toffee. Crisp, mildly hoppy finish. Not bad at all. Sampled at the 2005 Asheville Brewer’s Jam.

On tap at Blue Light, Charlottesville, VA. Deep brown with a frothyish head. Sweet nutty aroma, dominated by malts, but also has some citrusy hops there. Flavor is full of bitterness, with some grapefruity hops mixed in- just like the aroma. Kinda thick for a brown- but I’m not complaining! Immy (1955) - Virginia Beach, USA - JUN 5, 2006
12 oz bottle. Mahogany pour with a beige head. Soft, nutty nose, chocolate notes are there. Nice lace. Nutty, slightly sweet flavor with hazelnut undertones. Bitter finish, a bit of chocolate. Solid offering, much better than the Tavern (nut brown). SynergyXJ (510) - Blacksburg, Virginia, USA - OCT 3, 2006
Bottle. Dark pour with small head. Sweet, malty, toasty aroma. Well carbonated, smooth palate. Some toasty flavor, slight caramel. Overall my favorite St. George I’ve had so far. hopdog (12510) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 26, 2006
12oz bottle acquired in trade with The_Beer_God (thanks!). Poured a deep reddish brown color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of toasted malts, chocolate and nutty. Tastes of toasted malts, nuts, light caramel, with a bitter chocolate finish. Soonah (1120) - Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA - JUN 24, 2008
From dkachur via trade. The pour was dark brown with attractive garnet highlights glowing on the edges. The head was off-white, almost one-finger tall and coughed up flecks of lacing. The aroma was brown sugar, light chocolate and roasted malt with faint hop bitterness. The flavor was chocolate, roasted malt, nutty, spicy and possibly even some hops on the finish. The mouthfeel was average and the finish was unremarkable. Good.
