Bottled, BB 27.09.14, large sample. Clear amber to copper color, medium off-white head. Aroma of caramel, toffee, earthy hops, bit bready. Bit bitter in taste, medium sweet from caramel. Quite clean. Finishes reasonably bitter. Nice oldschool doppelbock.
Earlier Rating: 8/14/2007 Total Score: 3.5
Dark color, short head. Aroma of licorice, rye, roasted malt, some sugar. Sweet taste, roasted malt, blackcurrant, laurel, licorice. Leaves a carpet of black velvet on your tongue. Bit dry, thick, loads of licorice.

Bottle. Amber, small to average and fully diminishing light brown head. Moderate to full, malty and sweetish aroma, some caramel and light bread, light fruitiness and faint alcohol. Body is medium to full, malty and sweetish flavor, some caramel and light bread, faint fruitiness and light alcohol. Finish is average, malty and sweetish, light caramel and some alcohol. Caramel sweetish doppelbock. Bit too much alcohol in the finish. OK but lacks character.

Ordentlicher Doppelbock im dunklen Bereich mit einiges an Malz und Alkohol. Ein paar Karamellen, etwas an Nuessen und etwas Sueffigkeit. Nicht schlecht, aber am Ende doch nur einer von vielen.

McTapps (6856) - Reutlingen, GERMANY - MAR 3, 2014
Pours out of the bottle in a deep dark brown colour with low steady head and medium to smooth body. Aroma of malt and flowers. Taste of malt, barley, dark grains, strong alcohol, dried fruits, plums, roses and woods. Hints of chocolate. Decent Doppelbock.

yngwie (17038) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - DEC 31, 2013
Bottle, at Nærbø Ølfestival 2013. It pours a clear, brown body under a small, off-white head. The aroma is malty tending towards meat. Caramel and a touch of dried fruits and fruity hops. Some bitterness in the flavor, with the maltyness dominating. Full-bodied, dryish yet sweet and with a nice carbonation level. Lasting caramel finish with dried fruits. A pretty nice one. 131019

Bottle, at Cardinal. It’s a dark copper, clear beer topped by a dense, beige head. Bread, grains, mash and rye bread on the nose. A silght oxidized hint in the mouth, with dark rye bread dominating. Bready finish. Medium to full body, dry. A pleasant bock. Rating: 6-4-6-4-13-3.3. 091106

Bottle, at Norøls Bockølfestival. It’s a dark brown beer with a reddish hue. A small off-white head sits on top. Roasted, slightly burnt bready nose with caramel and a hint of dms. Sweet caramel flavor with roasted malts and some dms. Full-bodied, almost sticky feeling. Strange, it felt dry the last time. Some bitterness in the finish. A nice beer suffering from dms even though the levels are low, and it could use more bittering hops. 100313

Beer5000 (6453) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - DEC 17, 2013
Sampled at Nærbø Ølfestival 2013. Clear deep amber body with an off-white head. Aroma is mainly malty and gives a sweet impression. Flavor confirms the sweetness. Rather sweet on the malt side with dry fruit and not so much more, but that’s OK in this case. It’s simply a lovely sweet malty bock with a fine body, strong, sweet aftertaste and a hint of warming alcohol without being boozy.
Earlier Rating: 9/23/2009 Total Score: 3.4
500ml bottle. Dark brown, almost black with a big creamy tan head. Aroma is sweet malty and bread, Flavor is sweet malty, light bitter, some caramel and some kind of an unripe fruity freshness. Very pleasant and the alcohol is well hidden.

Bottle looks really good. Gusher! Beer in the glass dark brown, nice head. Starts intense malty, fine roasty, not too much. Some fine malty-earthy notes. Modest alcoholic. Warming-malty finish. Not bad!
Earlier Rating: 9/16/2009 Total Score: 3.5
LCRBM 2009. The bottle looks good, the beer in the glass also. Starts fruity and strong, malty with notes of liquorice, finish a bit moldy. Dry-malty aftertaste. Not bad!
